Twp. of Washington NJ, On Saturday, July 18th, members of the Township of Washington Fire Department, alongside community leaders and distinguished guests, gathered to celebrate a extraordinary milestone: Ex-Chief James “Jimmy” Zaconie’s 50th year of active service.
For five decades, Ex-Chief Zaconie has demonstrated tireless dedication, courage, and leadership in protecting residents across Bergen County.
Five Decades of Dedication: A Look Back at Jimmy Zaconie’s Career
James Zaconie’s journey in emergency services began over 50 years ago:

1973: Joined the fire service with Garfield Fire Department Company 4.

1975: Transferred to the Township of Washington Fire Department.

1985: Rose through the ranks to be named Chief of Department.

Present Day: Continues his active service, providing essential protection and leadership for the Township of Washington.
Named Bergen County’s Veteran of the Month for August
The celebration featured remarks from Bergen County Executive Jim Tedesco, who commended Zaconie for his lifetime of service both in uniform and in the military.
“I was honored to join the Township of Washington today in recognizing James Zaconie as he celebrates an incredible 50 years of service in the fire service. For five decades, Jim has exemplified dedication, courage, and an unwavering commitment to protecting his community.
