Ridgewood Schools Food delivery ban: NO MENTION of a non-compete clause in his letter.
mom with a POV
I’m not personally affected by Dr. Fishbein’s decision, but I am disgusted that Dr. Fishbein can send a letter to every parent in the district LYING about why he was putting an end to outside vendor deliveries. There was NO MENTION of a non-compete clause in his letter. He claimed student safety and too much staff time being used as the reasons. He then said that he was happy to listen to solutions proposed by the vendors. Now we hear:
Superintendent Daniel Fishbein said no vendors proposed a solution that addressed his concern about the non-compete clause with Pomptonian Food Service, the district’s contracted food management service provider since 1987.
“Each of the proposals that have come to me, I believe, had to do with leaving lunches behind, and that doesn’t work,” said Fishbein, whose decision was first announced in a letter earlier this month, about a week before the ban began.
Which is it, Dr. Fishbein? Student safety? Administrative time? Potential loss of money? The parents deserved to hear the TRUTH from our superintendent, not patronizing lies.
And speaking of patronizing, the last time I checked #1,#2 & #4, people are allowed to spend their money as they see fit. No one asked you what kind of car you drive or how big your TV is. Parents have the right to make their kid’s lunch, have the kid make their own lunch or have it bought and delivered (until recently). It’s not your money to spend.
Get over it already.
Who cares? Do you want your drycleaning picked up at the school too?
No more pretending that the parents are doing this because they want “healthier” lunches. The cheseburger deluxe can’t pass muster.
Probably a combination of a lot of factors. I’ve personally seen stacks of delivered lunches causing problems at both BFMS and RHS. The staff is not there to sort out lunches and resolve issues associated with lunches. And I would disagree with the OP that parents have a right to have their kids lunch delivered to the office at school. School isn’t there to service the Villages businesses; the school exists to educate your child. And no one is telling the OP how to spend their money (it always come down to money with these Neanderthals); they can still buy from whomever they like, whenever they like. You just cannot have it delivered into the school.
And I agree with #1 wholeheartedly . . . GET OVER IT!!
And back to the point of the post….
So you think that it’s ok that he lied?
Does the entire HS still eat lunch at the exact same time? If they do, does the fact that 1,800 kids can not fit into a cafeteria that holds a couple of hundred kids max have anything to do with lunches being dropped off. I have heard that it is impossible some days to get thru the lunch line during the lunch period. Do the kids still eat their lunchs in the stair cases, hallways, gymnasiums? Can’t imagine that would pass with the Board of Health.
#5 – yes, the entire high school eats at the same time but you already knew that, didn’t you? What is the nexus between that and problems with having lunches dropped of? Maybe we should build a new cafeteria so that local businesses can be accommodated with their drop-offs? My kids have told me that the RHS lunch lines are long but doable. For that reason, my kids brown bag it every single day.
GET OVER IT !
we use to eat in the gym. you could eat in the hallways but not in class rooms. that going back a while ago though
