can someone explain to me how Project Graduation is raffling off a parking space on Heermance Place to a student for the next school year??? I am crazy or is that a public street?? I know that the public was booted in favor of “teacher only parking” but now they are raffling off a spot to a student to raise money for a party when I, a taxpayer, cannot park there??? HUH??? Something just smells here.

We have not been able to confirm or deny the “parking space ” raffle , here are other events and information we have confirmed on the BOE website for Project Graduation .

  3. The announcement is found on the RHS HSA website that can be accessed through the RHS website.

  4. Seems to me this is no longer a public street and if that is the case then no complaints.

  5. Well, it it’s no longer a public street I’d like the Village to start charging the BOE for plowing and maintenance. Who pays for the maintenance of Heermance?

  6. We do… charge the BOE and we pick it up anyway…

  7. It doesn’t matter 1:46 they will contract the plowing and maintenance out and then charge us in our tax bill. You cant beat the BOED.

  8. Got a lot of free time on your hands? THIS is the biggest worry we have in Ridgewood right now? Really???

  9. So let me get this straight . . . the boe annexes a public street and claims they need if for teacher parking. Then someone give a spot to Project Graduation so they can raffle it off?

  10. 8:45 pm – no, I don’t think this is the biggest issue before the Village at this time. I just think it’s odd that Project Graduation is able to raffle off a parking spot on a public street. Do you not find that odd? We were told that Heermance Place was being reserved for “Teacher Only” parking and now spots are being raffled of to students for the gain of Project Graduation.

  11. 7:22am – Let me be very clear, I do not care. I really don’t, and I have a child at Ridgewood High School (too young to drive). I merely find this all the conspiratorial garbage to be a waste of time. You don’t have to agree, and that’s what makes America great. Rant on, and I won’t stop you. But why do you care about this? If the teachers are giving up a spot to raise money (as I believe they do each year), why do you care? Let’s say one teacher said “Hey, I will give up my parking permit to help raise some money” – would that be ok with you? Or not good enough, still must be darker forces at work. Do you want to park there? I find ample guest parking when I need to go to the High School during the day. So is this really such a problem?

  12. 6:24 pm – your thought process is so simple. . . it doesn’t affect me so I don’t care. WOW! The point is (read carefully here) Heermance Place is a public street.

  13. 8:45/6:24 – where is anyone point to a conspiracy? Your comment is just downright bizarre. I think the point is you can’t raffle off a parking spot on a public. Last year, we were told were also told teachers NEEDED those additional spots; now, not so much. And teachers don’t have a permit to park on Heermance…it’s first come, first served. I’m with the OP; selling off a parking spot on a public street smells to high heaven especially when it’s going to FUND A PARTY!!!!!

And let me be clear, I care. I really do. Now please run off to your meaningless HSA meeting.
