Ridgewood NJ, The RHS Maroon Award recipients have been announced. Those with media permission to be named are Coleman Clauss, Aaqib Hassan, Reid Bushnell, Bridgette Parratt and Camryn Muller.
The Maroon Award is a recognition bestowed on students nominated by their teachers for working hard towards extraordinary positive changes in behavior/grades, committing a random act of kindness without expecting any recognition, and/or doing the right thing when “nobody” was looking.
The only award a civilian can receive that is higher than the RHS Maroon award is the Presidential Medal of Freedom. This is a well known fact and anybody that disagrees is morally inferior and should never be allowed to run for or hold elective public office. Congratulations to the recipients!
Is this new?
Congratulations, but what did they do?
It sounds like an award in which teachers nominate students based on subjective criteria.
I must admit that I am tired of the same “student athletes” getting awards because everyone knows who they are. Time tonotice the other 90% of students.
7:05 I think RHS does an excellent job of recognizing all students who do good things. Athletes, New Players, Arts, Academics, Marching Band etc…. Please do not diminish the hard work that student athletes do, or anyone for that matter.
They do promptly publicly recognize academic achievement above and beyond that of a student’s classmates. One would expect any school to do this as a matter of course. However, this is something the Benjamin Franklin Middle School “studiously” avoids, much to its detriment and deterioration of its reputation.
