Ridgewood NJ, Discarded waste associated with the sanding of hardwood floors ignited unexpectedly after being placed at the curb in large plastic trash bags for pickup in front of 347 South Maple Avenue, Ridgewood on the afternoon of Wednesday, 08/17. The crew from Ridgewood Engine Company #35 extinguished the small blaze using the apparatus’ booster line and hosed down all other debris left at the curb to avoid a repeat incident. Ridgewood PD provided traffic control while firefighters worked.

  1. Let’s make sure we issue a summons to the idiot contractor who put that trash out at the curb.

  2. nice job Matt, Binny did it!

  3. Does this mean spontaneous combustion actually exists or is it merely a dramatic proof that we have been in a heat wave?
