Great news on Valley. Performing Arts Center is a great idea. It is going to be so appealing for Jay-z, Iron Maiden, Metallica, Justin Bieber to ditch MSG for the beauty and diversity of our village. Whoever came up with this idea should be kicked out of Bergen County altogether. The only way this Arts Center would be useful is if Rurik performed his monologues on the stage. I would pay 50 cents for that.

That’s a Rogues Gallery if I ever saw one…
I read Rurik’s letter to the editor in THR waxing poetic about his visit to Buenos Aries. It’s kinda sad.
Let’s see how the planned performing arts center in Hackensack makes out first.
I ask again, does the $5 million dollar estimate include construction costs for a parking deck, or costs associated with property acquisition for a new surface parking lot? Where are attendees supposed to park? The lot behind Village Hall is already jam packed most of the time.
Rurik’s letter would be kinda sad if it weren’t for the fact that he is so incredibly vicious.
Too many committees hatching too many useless and expensive plans to occupy more open space. NO NO NO NO NO, Council–not one cent for this and not one inch of Village property. Hey–let’s make a lot of noise so nobody can study at the library! Show of hands?
Viagra Monologues.
8:54- Too bad he didn’t stay.
I wish to answer the futurists of Ridgewood. What is the future? As far into the future as I can see it is pollution pollution pollution of all of our vital resources…. air, water, food.
I won’t lecture long. But let’s start with water. The chromium 6 level that the water dept. head said is so safe for Ridgewood is not so safe. Yes, Calif. has a 10 part per billion recommendation for their C6 level. But scientists there said, (article in Record and any other website) that 2 parts per billion is the level at which there is negligible risk; scientists in Calif. first recommended that level. Sweethearts , that is the number I go by. The nerdy disagreeable scientist number. No well in Ridgewood meets that standard. There is an interactive map you can look at. Now, there are toxic sites in Ridgewood that are seeping into the water. My puny dopey assessment says, let’s clean them up ASAP. That is where the tax money should go, or any raises in taxes. Now the head of the water dept. said,on Wednesday, that Chromium 6 is a naturally occurring chemical to a certain degree. It’s not according to EWG.org or any other website. It is man made, caused by various industrial processes. Read for yourself my brilliant friends.
A performing arts center here will bring in tons of traffic and congestion and pollution on our narrow oh so charming village roads. It is a no -no plain and simple And please do not tell me that I don’t appreciate the performing arts. I went to Juilliard and I am totally dedicated to the performing arts as a viewer and practitioner. NYC is where I get my fix not Ridgewood. And that is the way it should be. Ridgewood, for the future, should remain no more crowded or developed than at present.
Yea, thanks for letting us all know you went to Juilliard. We all know you have moves like Jagger and are infinitely better than all us earthlings, but we can go without your lectures…Please move along to the set of Step up 5 or where ever it is you came from and leave the important issues to the adults. EWG? Really? The same people who promote the dangerous and false idea that vaccines cause autism?
Did they teach you that at Juilliard? Your going to cite the scam that is EWG? Any conclusions and findings of any EWG report reflect EWG’s research as of the publication date reflected in the report’s executive summary, and is usually no longer current. and if the information is not current or flat out wrong, they do not retract or correct it. And you cite it as gospel. And another thing, you don’t appreciate the performing arts. Yes i’m telling you that. Next time you post on here check your professional asshole ego at the door and maybe we’ll take you seriously. MAYBE.
The point about Juilliard is to counteract the people on the library board mentioned above who are pushing for a performing arts center here. THEY will say those who do not want one here are tone deaf, don’t appreciate the performing arts. It is important that residents who do appreciate the performing arts stand up and say why a performing arts center is not for Ridgewood. EWG did the study on C6. I wish to repeat that the toxic sites in Ridgewood be cleaned up first, or whatever has to be done to keep water clean. Filters , whatever. If you don’t think that is important fine. Many people don’t apparently, because it was known for years about various pollutants , but it was ignored.
Hackensack, a city, is building one. We have the Bergen Performing Arts Center. In Englewood Is there a fiscally sound need for another?
Bergen PAC has corporate donors and state grants. How would a Ridgewood PAC stay afloat? Like the garage, taxpayers cannot be on the hook.
Government does not exist to grant all the wishes of the electorate. Government should be small and serve basic needs. The private sector should fill the gaps where the electorate is willing to pay.
All day K, parking garage and a PAC are not the job of government. Pay as you go.
The village has several performing arts spaces, the high school and all of the other school auditoriums.
There is also a Performing Arts Center at nearby Bergen Community College. 3:03 makes an excellent point as does 9:23.
There is a performing arts center in Rutherford as well.
