Ridgewood NJ, A resident up by Habernickel Park reported that on Saturday night January 14, at 1:30 AM (so by then it was early Sunday morning) loud talking, trucks, and snow blowing was taking place in Habernickel Park. As we all know, it was a light dusting of powdery snow, not a snow storm by any stretch. Most of us got by with doing no shoveling at all, since it was warm today and melted. At best a little salt on the sidewalks at Habernickel would have done the trick, spread by one quiet employee. This could have been done Sunday morning after 6 AM, long before anyone might be walking in the park. Two trucks, two men, loud and obnoxious when people were sleeping. How much did this cost in overtime on a Saturday night??? Could this have been some kind of retribution for the complaints that have come from neighborhood residents over the past year or so regarding Health Barn, safety issues, etc?
It took over 8 months to get a fence repaired up there, even though it was reported repeatedly. Surely that was more urgent (and more of a safety issue) than a dusting of snow at 1:30 in the morning
If you always look for something to complain about you will find it.
must be the same service my neighbor hires. is there rule about what times they are allowed to blow snow?
My neighbors were saying goodby to friends for over 20 minutes Saturday at 2am. Stuff happens, we all have our moments.
I would rather hear my neighbors than live in a town where you don’t see or hear your neighbors.
The Village pays for this.
8:11 – I have the same crap with my neighbor…there’s got to be some statute for this … like cutting your lawn after dusk….
When snow stops in the evening the sidewalks aren’t cleared by morning as a result of magic.
It takes manpower & equipment & time. This usually happens very few times per year, and sometimes not at all.
You would think Ridgewood residents would have the mental capacity to understand this.
Comparing this to cutting lawns is erroneous. The growth of grass is slow & predictable. Uncut grass does not imperil pedestrians or cars.
There are rules about landscapers, builders and I believe snow blowers. I think it may be a start time of 8am. If these were town employees who would have put that work order through at such a disrespectful hour and breaking the towns own rules?? Also do the tax payers pay double or some kind of overtime for the employees to work at these ridiculous hours?? if we are so desperate for cash and we are getting it by overcharging tax payers for parking maybe we can skim back on employee overtime and let tax payers sleep through the night on a weekend before they need to get up Monday and rush for a parking spot
@10:33. Kind of irrelevant…habernickel is a park so I am sure these people see many friends and neighbors. . Not everyone thinks it is warm and fuzzy to be woken up at 1:30am by trucks and equipment. But to each there own. Maybe next weekend your neighbors will choose to run a snow blower at 2am
Wow that was barely a dusting. How ridiculous that the town would send 2 trucks and 2 town employees out for that amount of snow at that hour. Poor management for sure and mis use of tax payers money.
This was total overkill, how ridiculous. Not sure it was retribution for their complaining last year, but you never know…..
Once again I have to explain the scam to you people. The “workers” are not town employees but contractors who have an agreement for removal and charge accordingly…0-2 inch = x amount of dollars, 2-4 inch = x amount of dollars and so on. This “contractor” is a friend of a friend in VOR parlance. If it snows 2 flakes this guy is going to be there plowing, blowing, schmoing and salting because he’s gonna get paid. 8am 2 am 6 pm he doesn’t give a rats ass…call the PD and see if you can chase him off. No? That’s right , they all know each other …just had a cup of joe with them at Parkwood. Get with the program people and remember that WE run the show around here, NOT YOU.
