We all understand commuting sucks and commuting via NJ transit sucks more, but that still doesn’t mean you need to act like a mean, arrogant, jerk. Commuter issues are not more important to anyone else’s issues. And guess what to the other posters ranting on facebook? you can leave your house earlier to park farther. Or you can stop buying the expensive passes, park elsewhere and see if decreased demand reduces prices. You knew the situation when you moved here or at least should have

  1. The village should not make commuter parking a profit center. People already live in town and pay taxes. Shouldn’t they get something in return?

And once they purchase an overpriced pass don’t play musical chairs with them. A pass should relate to an actual parking spot. Telling someone to leave home earlier just means that a different person will miss out on parking.

I don’t commute by train but it seems like the town is making an unpleasant commute even worse.

There has been a real focus on fees and petty ticketing in town. Are we that desperate for revenue that we go after the taxpayers? This is becoming a petty police state. Where is the quality of life?

  2. The present council is “sensitive” to commuters, so Mayor Knudsen said, so pay $1,000 to park and leave earlier and earlier to find a space, And do not expect an assigned lot to park in the morning , let alone a space; remember, as Knudsen said, even with fewer spaces on Hudson St. now that they took some away, you still have more than in the past. So just remember how sensitive the mayor is.

Oh , the gentleman who pointed to the seal above the courtroom picturing the Ridgewood Train station. emphasizing the town is for commuters. Well, the present council is sensitive to ignore that.

I thought that gentleman was super eloquent. And pointing out what is supremely relevant and important.

    I am not a commuter.

  3. Park in Ho-Ho-Kus like a lot of us have to do!

  4. Buy my house!
1.5 minute walk to the train and downtown!

  5. 9:58, write to councilman Jeff Voigt who is on a crusade to increase these prices.
10:39, he was NOT a gentleman. He insulated women who don’t commute to the city.

  6. I heard him, and I do not think he insulted women who don’t commute to the city. And I am a rabid feminist. He said , in his opinion, commuters deserve close spots to the train station more than non workers. Most non workers are women. I agree with him. I feel sorry for the commuters. If they arrive late , they could lose their jobs. I mean everyone in this crowded area is treated badly. If you are a responsible worker and parent you get shafted. If you are poor and working hard you get shafted.

No one is really good to anyone else unless that person has cancer. And then only because the healthy person is asking fate to spare him, and so he helps the sick. Sorry folks, I have lived long enough to be cynical.

  7. 9.58 is right. Its outright price gouging foisted on commuters too late in the year to explore options in any meaningful way.the eight hour max really shafted those who used coins to do daily commuter payment as option.Parkmobile means you have to do the 9.55 Parkmobile input from work and test those 8 hours while the
Parking police as just laying for those who try to do a just in time on the front or back end of those eight hour max.then you can get a ticket on repeat parking if you try to add an hour buffer later on in the day.Parkmobile
Admin function shows repeat parking to the police.then they write you up on the 8 hour max.meantime you are at work or committing home to move the car to your home. Its all by design folks..the 750/1000 VIP pass extortion for workers who need to take the train where bus is not practical.
