Ridgewood NJ, its planting season and according to Councilman Sedon the Village of Ridgewood is in the process of planting 140 street trees throughout the Village.
The Shade Tree Division is responsible for the maintenance and care of approximately 15, 000 Village owned street trees on 100 miles of public ways, as well as additional trees and shrubs in parks and on other public grounds. This includes all aspects, such as removal, planting, and pruning. The Shade Tree Division does a tree planting for Arbor Day, which is usually the last Friday in April. The division currently offers a memorial tree/bench program to honor the memory of a friend or family member.
Is it wise to add more “leaf generators” when the town has enough trouble removing leaves from the existing trees? 🙂
This is good. Trees are one of the best things in RW or at least used to be. With the amount of tree cutting by residents and PSEG I wonder if the number of new tress is still less than what’s being cut. The sad thing is people are cutting left and right because of falling risk and most ridiculously some don’t want to deal with leaves. Go figure.
Thank you Mike Sedon. You are the BEST. There are too many trees being taken down on private properties for no reason. Just because a homeowner doesn’t like them. Makes me sick. All the planting that you do helps Mike.
Interesting….the town pulled out a dead tree three years ago in front of my house but so far no replacement.
How do I get on the list…?
Thank you Shade Tree commission (you know who you are) for our little tree that was planted this week !
Thanks to all responsible individual for planting trees. We have lost so many trees over the years due to storms, but mostly people cutting down trees that are healthy just because they don’t want to deal with them. It is a crime, as trees helped the air quality as well as the water table. My area never had a water problem, but now does due to the loss of so many trees. The more trees That can be planted in Ridgewood the better. I Wish that for every tree that is taken down, or comes down, at least one would have to be replaced. Keep planting trees, Ridgewood! Thanks to all.
Can we get some more street lights on S Broad Please?!?
Shade tree, planting a tree in cbd cost over $3000 for the tree and the wells which didn’t work. The cbd looks horrible. And the do nothing form of a resolution restricting tree cutting was nixed because of a little heat to the VC. Now we have residents, developers and the VC clear cutting trees left and right. Look at the big xmas tree this year taken down from a local resident.
Don’t worry pork chop will fix it!
If you plant trees under the power lines, choose a species that won’t grow as high as the wires
Oh my pleeeasse please please plant trees on curbs and in the CBD. Isolated trees away from those darned troublesome, useless wooded areas are sooooo important for the environment!
And ppppleeassse please please continue to cut down trees like you did in wooded areas, like Maple Field, Schedler and HEY HEY why not cut down all the trees in PLEASANT PARK and make a much NEEDED SPORTS FIELD. IT’s for the CHILDREN . They will thank you later.
Oh sooooooo sad!! Too BAD!!! Mayor Knudsen used to lick her lips with anticipation of cutting down the little bus station shelter made out of wood. (I REMEMBER at several council meetings her talkin sayin it had to go) and then she found out it was historical and she wasn’t allowed to and she had to restore it. HA HA . I’m soooo glad I didn’t protest the proposed destruction of one of my favorite ,yes, BUILDINGS, in RIDGEWOOD. SHE, mayor Knudsen and council , would have cut it down sooner. HA HAHA. Oh CHRISTMAS miracles; I have always loved that bus station. So rustic, quaint, charming. REAL GENUINE. Simple strong design. Just loved it. Made for me it seemed like. CHeers that it will stand. At least sompin. Right.
The homeowners who are taking down trees left and right should be stopped.
It is so sad to see gorgeous, towering trees come down because they are in somebody’s way, block someone’s view, or shade someone’s pool. Trees do so much good for us, shade in the summer, water absorption, sound buffer, home to birds, squirrels, owls, chipmunks, racoons, it just is sad to see them taken down willy nilly
