TRENTON NJ – Acting Governor Tahesha Way declared that New Jersey will enter a State of Emergency effective at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 31, 2025, due to the potential for flash flooding, severe thunderstorms, intense rainfall, and damaging wind gusts. Rainfall totals of 1-3 inches are generally expected, with localized amounts of 5-7 inches possible. These extreme weather conditions can result in landslides, rock slides, and flooded roadways. Executive Order No. 394 declares a State of Emergency across all 21 counties, closing state offices early and allowing for resources to be deployed throughout the state during the duration of the storm.

“Beginning this afternoon, we are expecting severe thunderstorms to bring heavy rainfall and damaging wind gusts with the potential for flash flooding across the state,” said Acting Governor Way. “I urge all New Jerseyans to remain alert, follow all safety protocols, and monitor the proper channels for the duration of these storms. Residents should remain off the roads and indoors unless absolutely necessary.”

Village manager Keith Kazmark , From the National Weather Service: A Flood Watch has been issued for all 21 counties in New Jersey – from 2:00 pm Thursday, July 31 to 2:00 pm Friday, August 1. Rainfall rates of 2 inches an hour are likely. Most of the rain will fall in as little as 3 to 6 hours from Thursday afternoon into Thursday night.

Residents of the Village who live near the Ho-Ho-Kus Brook or the Saddle River, or in low-lying areas, are encouraged to monitor local weather reports.

We also suggest that residents maintain situational awareness of potential flooding in their area by subscribing to WaterAlerts, a free mobile and desktop service of the U.S. Geological Survey, which allows you to choose local rivers and streams, set thresholds, and receive alerts when water levels are nearing flood stage.

Please be aware and stay safe!

The Acting Governor encourages New Jerseyans to visit ready.nj.gov for important weather updates and safety information. Residents should also monitor local forecasts, warnings, and watches.

  1. How many catch basin tops have been cleaned off this year.
With the tax payers would like to know how many catch basins have been cleaned out completely so far this year in 2025.
Then would like to know how many ditches/waterways have been cleaned out.
And how many miles of roads have been swept throughout the village.
The documentation should be broadcasted for all of us to see.
    Thank you

    1. These are important measures, yet meaningless when it comes to Village flooding. Too many facilities are built in the flood plain, errors made decades ago. There are no solutions other than relocation.

  2. Exactly , In Paramus, they tell the The community.

  3. Acting Governor…where is Gov Horseteeth…?

    1. Italy where he lives lol

  4. That’s OK everyone’s entitled to vacation. Doesn’t matter if you love the person or hate them. As long as there is someone to fulfill their spot when they’re sick or on vacation. Nothing wrong with that. Ever since the tragedy in Texas, two storms that we had in New Jersey they declared state an emergency immediately. At least of being proactive. Not like in the past remember the big storm in 99 Floyd, no one was prepared.

    1. No one is entitled to vacation.
