Trenton NJ, Governor Phil Murphy today declared that New Jersey will enter a State of Emergency effective at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 9 in anticipation of severe storms causing hazardous weather conditions including heavy rain, high winds, and flash flooding. Executive Order No. 350 declares a State of Emergency across all 21 counties in New Jersey, allowing resources to be deployed throughout the state during the duration of the storm.

Governor Murphy Declares State of Emergency Due to Severe Storms

Trenton NJ, Governor Phil Murphy declared a State of Emergency effective at 4:00 p.m. due to severe storms experienced throughout the state and forecasted severe storms causing hazardous weather conditions including periods of intense rainfalls, flash flooding, and damaging wind gusts. These severe weather conditions are expected to cause excessive runoff which may result in landslides, rock slides, and damaged roadways.

Hoboken Caps 3rd Party Delivery Fees

Hoboken NJ , Mayor Ravi S. Bhalla today signed legislation into law adopting a cap on third-party food delivery fees, in an effort to support small businesses. The new regulations, approved by the City Council, place limits on the fees third party delivery services and websites can impose on restaurants during the current State of Emergency. Mayor Bhalla and the City Council adopted the new legislation due to the previous state-wide regulations on third-party food delivery fees having expired.

West Trenton NJ, as of 7:00 p.m., we have responded to 661 motor vehicle crashes and 1050 motorist aids in NJSP patrolled areas since 6:00 p.m. Sunday. Motorist aids can be anything from flat tires, mechanical breakdowns, spin outs, etc. We urge residents to remain off of the roads unless you absolutely have to go out. If you must go out, please slow down and drive carefully!

Governor Murphy Declares State of Emergency In Response to Expected Winter Storm

Trenton NJ, Governor Phil Murphy today declared that New Jersey will enter a state of emergency beginning Wednesday, December 16, 2020, at 2:00 p.m. in response to the expected winter storm. The storm is anticipated to start in the late morning and hazardous conditions may continue through Thursday evening.  Executive Order No. 208 declares a state of emergency across all 21 counties in New Jersey, allowing resources to be deployed throughout the state during the duration of the storm. The Governor has also initiated a staggered closing for state offices beginning at 1:00 p.m. this afternoon. The early dismissal does not include weather-essential employees, who shall remain until the normal close of business. Private companies and businesses should dismiss their employees at their own discretion

Governor Murphy and the Murphy Administration Urge Residents to Prepare for Latest Winter Storm

Ridgewood NJ, Governor Phil Murphy and the Murphy Administration are asking New Jersey residents to prepare for a winter storm that will affect the area throughout the day and into tonight. Colonel Patrick Callahan and the New Jersey State Police have activated the State Emergency Operations Center to monitor the winter storm conditions expected to last through tonight.

The New Jersey Office of Emergency Management (NJOEM) has been in contact with all 21 county emergency management offices, and members of the Emergency Response Bureau are working with their counties to address any storm-related needs. State emergency management partners have been notified and will continue to coordinate with NJOEM on any traffic and power concerns, and the New Jersey Department of Transportation and its contractors activated this morning with up to 2,500 plows and spreaders available to keep State highways clear and safe for motorists.

TRENTON NJ, Today, Governor Phil Murphy declared that New Jersey will enter a state of emergency beginning Wednesday, February 20, 2019 at 5:00 a.m. ahead of the anticipated winter storm. The storm is expected to start tomorrow and continue throughout the day. Executive Order No. 57 declares a state of emergency across all 21 counties in New Jersey, allowing resources to be deployed throughout the state during the duration of the storm.

“As a winter storm is expected to impact our State, we are urging residents of New Jersey to drive with caution and use their best judgment during this time,” said Governor Murphy. “We are actively monitoring the storm and are prepared to deploy any resources available to ensure the safety of the roads.”

What is a State of Emergency?

New Jersey State law allows the Governor and County and Local Emergency Management Coordinators to declare a State of Emergency during significant weather events and natural disasters. The emergency declaration is a tool used by the government officials who are managing the emergency. It allows State agencies to quickly respond to needs of citizens, reassign personnel, and deploy vehicles, trucks, and equipment to respond to the incident. A State of Emergency allows the government to act more quickly than it can during non-emergency times.
