Last week, former firefighter Bill Brennan made headlines for his appearance in court as he attempted to get a Bergen County judge to appoint a special prosecutor to investigate an official misconduct complaint filed against New Jersey Governor Chris Christie for his role in the Bridgegate lane closures. While the judge denied the request, Brennan appeared in Wayne on Monday to claim he will continue to pursue to effort and to make the unexpected announcement that he will run for governor in 2017.

Brennan has never held office before and considers himself a citizen activist. He will be running for the state house as a Democrat. Brennan will now join former Ambassador to Germany Phil Murphy and Assemblyman John Wisniewski in the June Democratic primary.

  1. Bill Brennan is a dangerous individual. He normally attempts to pick a fight so he can represent himself in court. Bill Brennan went to law school, passed the bar exam, but is not a practicing attorney. Our fantastic news media has not yet bothered to find out why. Inquiring minds want to know.

In the opinion that denied his request for a special prosecutor the Judge stated “Principles of fairness and justice would be violated in allowing private citizens, who are not subject to the Rules of Professional Conduct, to use the judicial system to limit the freedom of others.” Perhaps Mr. Brennan’s reputation is well known in the Bergen County Courthouse.

  2. Bill Brennan should run for governor. He wouls be better thaan Christie Anyone would be better than Christie.

  3. Really 9:34?
What chance did CC really have against a liberal progressive machine politic assembly and Senate?
Get a liberal progressive Govenor who will roll over under the Assembly’s and Senate’s pressure and you will see how truly bad things can get.

  4. How would he, or anyone, be better than CC? If you think spending money is the answer, then you simply don’t understand the State’s precarious financial position.

  5. Not a chance. Murphy already did as corzine did. Bought himself the nomination
