Turf grooming best practices are to brush the plastic grass to make sure the infill (crumb rubber or coconut shells) is level to prrevent injury. Sanitization of turf with chemicals is also a must as all of the bodily fluids don’t just wash away with the rain or get bakied out with the sun as some people want to believe. This is why the pro athletes prefer grass.
So if we don’t have the grounds crew of Yankee stadium, as stated by Mayor Vagianos when making his argument of turf vs. grass, then who is raking the turf after every 40 hours of play to ensure that the infilll is level as recommended as a best practice? Who is appying the sanitzation materials to avoid bacteria, mold, etc and caring for the turf, watering it down when it gets hot to avoid injury? How is this any different than mowing the grass?
I hope the NJ DEP is not “testing” any soil or everything will be closed
