Washington DC, the FBI on Monday searched the Mar-a-Lago estate of former President Trump, a dramatic step that has increased speculation about the former president being in legal jeopardy. Republicans are pressuring the Department of Justice to explain its rationale for executing a search warrant on former President Trump’s Mar-a-Lago residence on Monday.

The FBI and DOJ continue to lose all credibility . House GOP leaders already skeptical of DOJ criticized the search as being politically motivated. Bob Hugin, Chairman of the New Jersey Republican State Committee (“NJGOP”), released the following statement in response to the federal raid of former President Trump’s home:“The FBI raid on President Trump’s personal residence is unprecedented and raises a number of concerns about the power of the ruling party to investigate its political opponents. Just this week, Democrats here in New Jersey voted to fund another 87,000 new IRS agents. Make no mistake about it: this new robust agency will harass small business owners, political adversaries, and law-abiding Americans. It is more essential than ever to elect a Republican Congress this November to put an end to one-party rule.”
Judicial Watch announced that it has filed a motion asking the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida to unseal as soon as possible the search warrant materials used by the FBI to raid President Trump’s Mar–a–Lago home in Florida (U.S. v. Sealed Search Warrant (Case No. 9:22-mj-08332)). According to media reports, the warrant relates to an alleged dispute over the Presidential Records Act.
The former President Trump on Monday said that his Mar-a-Lago home in Florida was “under siege” by a “large group” of FBI agents conducting a search warrant.
“Nothing like this has ever happened to a President of the United States before. After working and cooperating with the relevant Government agencies, this unannounced raid on my home was not necessary or appropriate,” Trump said. “It is prosecutorial misconduct, the weaponization of the Justice System, and an attack by Radical Left Democrats who desperately don’t want me to run for President in 2024, especially based on recent polls, and who will likewise do anything to stop Republicans and Conservatives in the upcoming Midterm Elections.”
“Such an assault could only take place in broken, Third-World Countries. Sadly, America has now become one of those Countries, corrupt at a level not seen before,” Trump said, alleging that the FBI agents broke into his safe.

I knew there was a big effort to prevent him from running again, but this takes the cake. I have totally lost any remaining faith I once had in the integrity of our political system.
If Trump hadn’t removed classified documents from the White House to begin with , he wouldn’t have had to worry about an FBI raid of his premises. What was in those documents that he decided to take them with him? Something incriminating? Makes you wonder. So tired of the constant “I’m innocent and everybody’s picking on me” behavior. Grow up Mr. Trump.

You are missing the point. A banana republic is characterized by unequal and arbitrary application of the law depending on politics. As such, the law is not to serve justice, but the interests of the ruling party in consolidating its power. Can you name another U.S. politician (let alone a former POTUS) who has been treated this way (unrelenting legal attack with no substantive finding of guilt)?
The corrupt fbi and doj have been spying and investigating the trump org. for at least 6 yrs now and have come up empty. Thus far, all charges were the same as what the Obama and Clinton admin were guilty of. If dems remain in power, they will use the irs as well to target republicans. And that is a banana republic!
