Ridgewood NJ, Ridgewood Police report that once again another Ridgewood Business falls victim to the PSE&G gift card scam. A Franklin Avenue business reported being the victim of a fraud on June 21. The business owner reported an individual contacted the business posing as a PSE&G representative. The fraudulent caller reported the power to the business would be shut off if gift cards were not immediately purchased. The victim reported purchasing gift cards before realizing he was being scammed. The Ridgewood Detective Bureau is investigating the incident.
And people wonder why so many businesses fail. If this business owner is indicative of other business owners, then here’s the reason why.
How can anyone with at least half a brain go along with such nonsense?

My 5 year old and my 95 year old wouldn’t get scammed by this.
If you have a 95-year-old, 8:44, more power to you, and let’s celebrate your 120th birthday soon. The 5-year-old was from a later marriage, presumably. But seriously, who would believe that PSE&G wants GIFT CARDS? Just send them a nice present or flowers. Or, as I do, a check once a month. They have always seemed happy enough with that. Never turned off the utilities, anyway.
Some foreigner left two robo calls on my machine Saturday claiming to be the IRS with an arrest warrant for me.
My 90 year old dad got a call Sunday from a foreigner claiming to be his grandson.(he has none)
If anyone is that dumb to fall for these scams they deserve to lose..
