Ridgewood NJ, Village Manager Keith Kazmark recently announced that demolition of the former Town Garage structure will take place within the next 2 to 3 weeks. The contractor involved in the project is now applying for demolition permits, which will be expedited by the Village’s Building Department. Portions of the Walnut Street municipal parking lot will be unavailable once demolition begins. More to follow from the Village Manager.
On Wednesday, September 11th, the Ridgewood Village Council reached a final resolution in the long-standing eminent domain litigation concerning the Town Garage property at 120 Franklin Avenue. Village Manager Keith Kazmark confirmed that the council approved a form of final consent judgment, bringing years of negotiations and legal battles to a close. With this agreement, the Village officially takes ownership of the property.
The long-standing issue of the abandoned Town Garage on Franklin Avenue is finally seeing progress, as the Village prepares to clean up and redevelop the property. Village Manager Keith Kazmark previously emphasized the importance of the Village buying the property, saying, “The issue has lingered for many years. In the next month or so, this eyesore will be removed from Franklin Avenue, and the property will be well on its way to being remediated.”

A nightmare in the making. There’ll be remediation work taking place on that corner for years to come.
How’s the new Performing Arts Center coming along?

The famous gasoline alley

Ridgewood Gasoline Alley:
Eleven gas stations, from Broad St to Maple Ave.
Exxon, Getty, Texaco, Arco, Mobil, Sunoco, Sinclair, Chevron, Amoco, Phillips 66, and Shell.
That’s about the only thing that building department is capable of expediting.
NOW applying to a demolition permits? Why didn’t they get months ago?
Originally was to be demolished 3 weeks ago.
How much of OUR Money is THIS going to cost ?
Wait until they rip up that parking lot
We could use a 4-story parking garage….
Be very careful and vigilant next year. Vagiano’s has been trying to get some things done since early 2000. He supported many different people to run for council and funded them and they could not accomplish his demands. Now he has all the things in place. His puppets for the council members and the village manager position. All of them are funded by his funds in one way or the other (he funded their campaigns or they have been paid as his campaign manager)… so now is the time for him to make things happen. Be WATCHFUL!
long overdue to take down this eyesore
