Twp of Washington NJ, NJ State Senator Holly Schepisi reminds everyone, to stay vigilant. Certain crimes have seen a significant uptake in our communities and criminals are becoming bolder in their criminal acts. Just yesterday there was an armed carjacking in Washington Township at the intersection of Pascack and Ridgewood Roads. If anyone has any information please contact the Washington Township police department. Carjacking is a first-degree-plus crime and carries penalties including 10 to 30 years in prison, with a 5-year minimum period of parole ineligibility. (N.J. Stat. § 2C:15-2 (2020).
On Wednesday, March 23, 2022 at approximately 1:21 AM the Washington Township police received a report of an armed car jacking in the area of 150 Pascack Road., Twp of Washington. Patrol officers responded to the area and were flagged down by a male party. The male party stated his vehicle was “intentionally” struck from behind at the intersection of Pascack Road and Ridgewood Road, causing him to exit his vehicle. Two actors exited a dark colored vehicle, each actor brandishing a small silver handgun. The actors demanded the victims car keys and wallet. The vehicle was taken and was last seen heading southbound on Pascack Road. The victim’s vehicle was later located in Harlem, New York. This matter is still under investigation. Bergen County Prosecutors Office is assisting.

What is a “male party” and why would two “actors” take the “party’s” car? I thought the theater’s were open again with the waning of Covid. People with a traditional education might be able to discern what these terms mean, but anyone being considered for confirmation to the Supreme Court would have no idea. In the future, could we just describe such events in terms like “two criminals stole a man’s car at gunpoint”? Descriptions would be informative, even if reality has gone out of fashion.
