Ridgewood NJ, a refrigerated box truck became disabled on a roadway leading under the train trestle in the center of Ridgewood on Friday morning, 04/29 after its driver attempted a u-turn when he realized the truck exceeded a posted height limit.

No injuries were reported in the incident, which shut the heavily trafficked thoroughfare for over an hour. A heavy duty tow truck removed the vehicle from the scene. Ridgewood Police responded to the incident. One (1) summons was issued to the truck driver.

Once again poor planning eliminating a lane due to the creation of the ,”suicide bike lane” , creates more congestion and leaves no room to circumvent accidents .

  1. The bike lane had zero impact here..why even mention. The truck driver had plenty of room to make the u turn but experienced mechanical failure. I was in my car and fortunate to be in a position to pass the disabled truck in the opposite lane.

  2. No-one has ever used the bike lane, so no danger there.

  3. The bike lane is a pleasure to have as part of our community and works just great. I use it all the time. Excellent shared use of the road.

The truck…guess the driver didn’t look at posted height limits.

      1. Imagine if he had tried to pull into the parking garage……..

        1. Nothing would have happened.

Nobody goes in there anyway except to try to use the chargers they think are free.
