Ridgewood has low inventory of homes for sale
March 29, 2013
By Michael Shetler
The Otteau Valuation Group has identified Ridgewood as one of the 127 areas in New Jersey with an inventory of homes for sale under six months.
A balanced market is considered to be an inventory of four to six months.
Ridgewood currently has a 4.2 month supply.
The Otteau Valuation Group is predicting a statewide increase in home values of at least 3% this year.

Rebound expected in N.J. home prices
After a six-year slide, New Jersey’s housing market appears to be at a turning point, with prices expected to rise this year.
As the market enters the traditionally lively spring selling season, a constellation of factors — more affordable prices, low mortgage rates and a recovering job market — is drawing more buyers. Inventories are tightening as sellers hang back, pointing to a rise in home prices for the first time since 2006.
This reversal was underscored Thursday by East Brunswick appraiser Jeffrey Otteau, who tracks real estate statewide. He predicted that an increase in buyer demand and a shrinking supply of homes will work together to push up prices 3 percent this year in New Jersey.

Christie tells beachfront owners to sign easement for dunes or face ridicule

STATE HO– USE BUREAU
The Record
Governor Christie put oceanfront property owners on notice Tuesday, saying those who don’t give the state permission to build sand dunes on their land will be named publicly.
“We’re going to start calling these folks out in the next few weeks if they haven’t signed the easements to let us build the dunes because they need to be called out and they need to be told that there is something more important than their own self interests,” he said during a town hall-style event in Middlesex Borough.
The threat is Christie’s latest attempt to persuade private property owners to permit the Army Corps of Engineers to build sand dunes on their land. Christie said superstorm Sandy wiped out any argument against dunes, because communities with engineered beaches suffered significantly less damage than those without.
“I’m not going to put up with people that decide their view of the Atlantic Ocean is more important than the lives and the properties of their neighbors,” he said.
With COAH future cloudy, towns shelve affordable housing plans
Municipalities say they are frozen in place when it comes to affordable housing. NJ Spotlight

Valley Caters to the Busy Woman with Health Screening Events on April 14 and 17
RIDGEWOOD, NJ – March 27 – On Sunday, April 14 and Wednesday, April 17, The Valley Hospital, in cooperation with its Spirit of Women health program, will offer “Done in a Day” to help busy women address those important health screenings that often go delayed or ignored due to scheduling difficulties. Women can choose one or more of six health screenings, which include digital breast imaging (mammography), bone density, women’s pelvic health, heart health assessment, spine screening, and a nutrition evaluation.
Mammography and bone density screenings require a physician’s prescription, and all screenings require appointments. Pelvic health, heart health, spine, and nutrition screenings are offered at no charge. All screenings are performed by nurse practitioners, certified radiology technicians, and other medical professionals. The schedule of screenings is as follows:
Sunday, April 14
7 a.m. – 9 a.m. Heart Health Assessment (requires fasting for 8-10 hours prior)
9 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. Mammography, Bone Density, Spine Screening
Wednesday, April 17
5 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. Mammography, Bone Density, Women’s Pelvic Health, Spine Screening, Nutrition Evaluation
Women may register for screening appointments by calling 1-800-VALLEY1 (1-800-825-5391). To allow for more than one health screening, our operators will work with women to schedule multiple appointments during the same visit. Some screenings are not available on both dates. You do not need to be a member of the Spirit of Women program to participate in these screenings.

BET Founder: ‘This Country Would Never Tolerate White Unemployment at 14 or 15 Percent’
March 29, 2013
By Melanie Hunter
(CNSNews.com) – Black Entertainment Television (BET) founder Bob Johnson said Tuesday that the nation would “never tolerate white unemployment at 14 or 15 percent” and yet unemployment for the black community has been double that of white Americans for over 50 years.
“This country would never tolerate white unemployment at 14 and 15 percent. No one would ever stay in office at 14 or 15 percent unemployment in this nation, but we’ve had that double unemployment for over 50 years,” Johnson said while speaking at the National Press Club about the gap between whites and blacks in America.
“The national average is 7.7 percent, and African-American unemployment is 13.8 percent. To be honest, it’s probably greater than that when you count the number of African-Americans who have simply given up on finding employment,” said Johnson, who is also founder and chairman of The RLJ Companies.
In 1972, the unemployment rate for African-Americans was 11.2 percent in January of that year and as low as 9.4 percent in December of that same year. It dipped as low as seven percent in April 2000. The unemployment rate for blacks in February 2013 was 13.8 percent, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
Kristine Paige Photography
Kristine was born in Edison, New Jersey and was the offspring of a creative multicultural background. She was artistically inclined from a very early age with some of her earliest memories are of sitting in her mother’s darkroom and helping develop photographs
The transition of photography from film to digital is both an exciting and painful at the same time. Digital images ofter the end user and enormous opportunity in editorial and image manipulation and modern photography equipment allow and endless variety of ways to capture images . The down side is volume of poor quality images circulating and a reliance on technology when the user understands little about light and composition.
Kristine Page learned from the old school masters of photography first in film and then transferring and revolutionizing her craft in digital. The reality that Kristine grasped was that digital and film are in fact an entirely different mediums. Where film offered a
subtileness and texture akin to and analog recording , digital offers instant gratification and the opportunity to shot high quality images on the fly ,bringing to the corporate client high quality lifestyle photos . Kristine has managed to merge the perfect balance of the
artistic eye with a potent use of technology.
The field of Commercial Photography involves problem solving and great technical skill ,understanding manipulation of light and composition and capturing images that help your business come to life. Images sell and it is critical to have powerful images to reel in interest , make a statement and assure credibility .
Kristine has worked with a litany of corporate clients as well celebrities .Corporate clients include the International Nano 2012 Conference in Rhodes Greece , the Raritian Bay Medical Center , .Middlesex Water Company , Vixen Village , DJ Times and Philadelphia Weekly ,while Kristine has also worked with a whole host of celebrates from Lady Gaga , Grand Master Flash, LAMFO , Cindy Lauper , the Suger Hill Gang and many many more.
For more information, feel free to give Kristine a call at her studio, she would be happy to answer any questions you might have or discuss a potential project with you.
