Ridgewood NJ, As we gear up to celebrate America’s historic 250th birthday, a shifting weather forecast is prompting a quick change of plans to keep everyone safe. Due to high temperatures expected tomorrow morning, organizers have officially adjusted the event timeline.

To ensure a safe, fun, and comfortable environment for families, participants, and spectators, the 4th of July parade will now start 60 minutes earlier than originally planned. Shifting the kickoff helps reduce everyone’s exposure to peak morning heat.

Here is everything you need to know about the revised schedule, safety tips, and evening fireworks.

📅 The Revised 4th of July Schedule

Make sure to adjust your alarms! The updated morning timeline is as follows:

  • 8:30 AMFlag Raising Ceremony at Wilsey Square

  • 9:00 AM4th of July Parade Kickoff

Note: The evening entertainment and spectacular fireworks program at Veterans Field will still take place exactly as originally scheduled.

☀️ Essential Heat Safety Tips for Attendees

Celebrating the semi-quincentennial is a once-in-a-lifetime event, but staying safe in high temperatures should be your top priority. If you plan on setting up a spot along the parade route, please follow these health guidelines:

  • Hydrate Early: Drink plenty of water before leaving your house and continue sipping throughout the parade.

  • Dress Appropriately: Wear lightweight, loose-fitting, and light-colored clothing to reflect the sun’s rays.

  • Sun Protection: Apply broad-spectrum sunscreen before you arrive and reapply as needed. Wearing a wide-brimmed hat is also highly recommended.

  • Seek Shade: Take advantage of shaded areas under trees or awnings along the route whenever possible.

Important Health Advisory: Extreme heat poses elevated risks for vulnerable groups. Older adults, infants, young children, and individuals with underlying medical conditions should take extra precautions or consider viewing from a cool, indoor location.

Final Thoughts

While the morning sun is bringing a bit of extra heat, the community spirit is bound to be even brighter. Let’s look out for one another, stay cool, and make this a memorable milestone for our nation.

Have a safe, happy, and historic 4th of July!
