Hackensack NJ, Bergen County is taking a proactive step toward enhancing road safety across its 70 municipalities by developing a Local Safety Action Plan (LSAP). This initiative aims to identify and address safety concerns on local roads, and public participation is crucial in shaping the plan’s priorities. Residents are encouraged to complete the survey below to help guide safety improvements in their communities.
This project is part of a broader effort, funded by the North Jersey Transportation Planning Authority, to enhance transportation safety throughout the region.
Creating a Safety Plan for Bergen County
To ensure the LSAP is effective, local experts and stakeholders have reviewed crash data to select key Emphasis Areas. These areas group specific types of crashes to create targeted strategies for reducing traffic-related injuries and fatalities. Based on data analysis, the top priority Emphasis Areas for Bergen County have been identified as Intersections, Aggressive Driving, and Pedestrian and Bicyclist Safety. These focus areas will guide the efforts to make Bergen County’s roads safer for everyone.
Public Involvement is Key
To develop a comprehensive and community-driven LSAP, the project team is organizing a series of public engagement events. The team gathered valuable input from residents at the Bergen County Fair at Overpeck Park on August 14. Additionally, a virtual public workshop is being planned to allow residents to participate from the comfort of their homes. Details on the workshop will be available soon under the “Get Involved” section.
Residents can also share their insights through an interactive map, helping to pinpoint specific areas of concern. Your feedback will play a vital role in prioritizing safety enhancements and ensuring that the LSAP reflects the needs and concerns of the entire Bergen County community.
