Bergen County Prosecutor : Off-duty Saddle Brook Police Officer fled from an Attempted Motor Vehicle stop and led Ridgefield Police on a high speed chase

Saddle Brook NJ, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of ANDRES MORALES (DOB: 05/10/1991; single; Saddle Brook Police Officer) on a charge of Eluding. The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Robert Anzilotti.

On October 8, 2020, the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Confidential Investigations Unit received information that on October 3, 2020, an off-duty Saddle Brook Police Officer fled from an attempted motor vehicle stop and led Ridgefield Police and other officers on a high speed chase, however no arrest was made.

The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, Confidential Investigations Unit initiated an investigation which revealed that on October 3, 2020, at approximately 2:35 a.m., a Ridgefield Police Officer attempted to stop a speeding BMW. The driver, later identified as ANDRES MORALES, refused to pull over and fled the police at a high rate of speed, subsequently driving on State Routes 46 and 80. The pursuit was later terminated due to the excessive speed and the danger to the pursuing officer and the general public.

As a result of the investigation, on October 14, 2020, ANDRES MORALES was charged with Eluding, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:29-2(b), a 2nd degree crime. He was also suspended from his duties as a police officer. MORALES is scheduled for a first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack, NJ on Wednesday, November 4, 2020 at 8:30 a.m.

The investigation is ongoing and several other officers have been suspended, pending the outcome of the full investigation.

Bergen County Prosecutor Musella states that the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.

    Overpaid way too much overtime what a joke. What a scam, and they know it, hundred dollars an hour on overtime at construction sites to do zippo. They don’t even direct traffic. They sit there and drink coffee and talk to girls. So typical. Talk about Corruption at its best.
