Hackensack NJ, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrests of XIAN FANG MEI (DOB: 10/23/60; married; unemployed) of 4114 Main Street, Queens, NY, and XIAN WEI TANG (DOB: 9/07/83; single; unemployed) of 43-08 148th Street, Queens, NY for possession with the intent to distribute marijuana. The arrest is the result of an investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Jason Love.

On March 15, 2023, during a narcotics investigation, detectives from the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Narcotic Task Force conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle as it traveled through Bergen County, NJ. The investigation revealed that the occupants of the vehicle, XIAN FANG MEI and XIAN WEI TANG, were transporting approximately 120 pounds of suspected marijuana.

As a result of the investigation, XIAN FANG MEI and XIAN WEI TANG were arrested at the scene and each charged with one count of first-degree possession with intent to distribute marijuana over 25 pounds, N.J.S.A. 2C:35-5b(10)a. Both defendants were released pending a first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack, NJ.

Prosecutor Musella states that the charges are merely accusations and that the defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, and he would like to thank the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance with this investigation.
