Officer Timothy O’Hare was born in Englewood, on May 29th, 1972 to Anthony and Claire (McDonagh) O’Hare. He was a graduate of the Bergenfield High School Class of 1990 and then attended college.  O’Hare served with pride and distinction in the United States Marine Corps.
On June 22nd, 2002, Timothy married the love of his life, Lisa Sofio, at St. John’s Church in Bergenfield.
While working full time, Tim went back to school and earned his Masters of Science in Information Systems, from Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken.
He has worked for the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office for the past fourteen years, and has most recently been part of the CERT and Hostage Negotiations Unit.Tim has also been a member of the Bergen County Sheriff’s Honor Guard.
Officer Timothy O’Hare completed the New York City Marathon for Fred’s Team; and he has been a supporter of the Bergen County Irish Festival 5K since its debut.
Officer Timothy O’Hare was an avid reader, and enjoyed coaching soccer and baseball, and volunteering for anything that had to do with his two cherished children, Connor and Kaitlyn.
He was also an active member of the Board of Education for Waldwick High School; and on July 22nd, 2022, Tim was awarded the “Outstanding Instructor Award,” by the Bergen County Youth Police Academy cadets.
Tim is the beloved husband of Lisa, the devoted father of Connor and Kaitlyn O’Hare, the cherished son of Claire and Anthony O’Hare, the loving brother of Tara and her husband Dan Kwederis, his brother Danny O’Hare, his sister Kaitlin O’Hare, his dear mother in law Arlene Sofio, his Godfather Tom Cummings and his niece Ella Kwederis, his nephew Daniel Kwederis, and his niece Molly O’Hare. Tim was predeceased by his father in law Carmen Sofio, and his brother in law Kenneth Sofio.
Visiting will be held, 2 – 4 & 6 – 8pm, Sunday, November 27th, at our CLIFTON location, Warner-Wozniak Funeral Home, 470 Colfax Ave, CLIFTON, NJ 07013. A funeral Mass will be celebrated 11am, Monday, November 28th, St. Luke’s Roman Catholic Church, 340 Franklin Turnpike, Ho-Ho-Kus, NJ 07423. Timothy will be laid to rest at the Mary Rest Cemetery, 770 Darlington Avenue, Mahwah, NJ 07430. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Timothy’s name to the Lustgarten Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer Research, https://lustgarten.org/donatenow/ or the College Fund that has been established for the benefit of Connor and Kaitlyn O’Hare https://gofund.me/0ec33e27 would be most appreciated.

  1. I love you both Lisa. Never met your little ones but for sure in the best of best parents.
    Timmy and I grew through life since 1st grade St. John’s and beyond. He never gave up on LISA SOFIO. He promised me once I will marry Lisa. I had no doubt. Talked everyday about you since we were 12. Now time is its own passing event. My prayers are yours for You and yours. Always Dennis Walsh. (Sorry I wasn’t there).
