Hackensack NJ, Bergen County Executive Jim Tedesco announced that the Bergen County Technical School District was recently the recipient of a MAJOR NJ Department of Education Securing Our Children’s Future Grant. The grant will provide 75% of total funding for the construction of a new Career and Technical Education (CTE) School here in Bergen County which will bridge the gap between high school and postsecondary plans, providing a versatile curriculum that prepares students for their next step, whether it is a trade apprenticeship program, a two-year college, or four-year college.
In total, the Bergen County Technical School District is expected to receive $25,875,000 from the Department of Education for the new CTE School while the County will take responsibility for the remaining 25% to build the school, approximately $8,625,000. The Bergen County Board of Commissioners heard the first reading for the bond ordinance this past Wednesday at their public meeting.
This is a big win for the County, which expands our already stellar County Technical School District. Once open, the CTE school’s curriculum will feature programs tailored to address shortages in high-demand fields that will help our nation remain competitive in a 21st century global economy including Fabrication and Design, Logistics, and Dental Science. More details to come soon!
