Fort Lee NJ, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announces that an investigation is being conducted of a motor vehicle crash which occurred on August 27, 2020 on the George Washington Bridge in New Jersey. The investigation is being conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Robert Anzilotti and the Port Authority Police Department under the direction of Superintendent of Police Edward Cetnar.
On Thursday, August 27, 2020, at approximately 9:25 a.m., the Port Authority Police Department responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash on the lower level of the George Washington Bridge westbound lanes in New Jersey. Upon arrival, officers found a Chevrolet Corvette with front-end damage and a Honda CRV with severe side and rear damage. The Corvette was stopped in the right lane, and the Honda was on the center median. The passenger of the Honda was pronounced deceased at the scene, and the driver of the Honda was pronounced deceased a short time later after being transported to Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in New York. The driver of the Corvette had sustained minor injuries and was transported to Holy Name Hospital in Teaneck, NJ.
Port Authority Police contacted the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Fatal Accident Investigation Unit, and an investigation into the circumstances of the crash is ongoing. The deceased have been identified as 52-year-old male driver, Muharem Frluckaj, of Bronx, NY and 47-year-old female passenger, Bisere Frluckaj, of Bronx, NY.
Prosecutor Musella would like to commend the Port Authority Police Department for their efforts and professionalism in their response to this tragic event, and he would also like to thank the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office for its assistance in this investigation.
