Bergen Traffic Stop Leads to Arrest of Bronx Man in Vehicle Stolen from Staten Island

Hackensack NJ, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of MAKAN TRAORE (DOB: 10/03/1983; single; unemployed) of 1420 Grand Concourse, Bronx, NY on the charge of receiving stolen property. The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Jason Love.

On January 13, 2023, detectives from the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office conducted a traffic stop of a suspected stolen vehicle traveling through Bergen County. Detectives were able to confirm that the vehicle was reported stolen from Staten Island, NY on December 26, 2022, and the driver of the stolen vehicle was identified as MAKAN TRAORE, who was taken into custody without incident.

As a result of the investigation, MAKAN TRAORE was arrested at the scene and charged with second-degree receiving stolen property, N.J.S.A. 2C:20-7a. TRAORE was released pending a first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack, NJ.

Prosecutor Musella states that the charge is merely an accusation and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable
doubt.
