On October 19, 2023, during a narcotics investigation, detectives from the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Narcotic Task Force conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle as it traveled through Bergen County, NJ. The investigation revealed that the passenger, VICTOR GARCIA-MORLA, was concealing a handgun in his waistband which was loaded with hollow-nose bullets. A search of the vehicle yielded a second handgun with hollow-nose bullets.

As a result of the investigation, both CHELVIN CASTILLO-PAULA and ANTHONY MEDINA-SUAREZ were arrested and charged with second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon, N.J.S.A. 2C:39-5b(1); and fourth-degree prohibited weapons (hollow nose bullets), N.J.S.A. 2C:39-3c(1). VICTOR GARCIA-MORLA was arrested and charged with two counts of second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon, N.J.S.A. 2C:39-5b(1); and fourth-degree prohibited weapons (hollow nose bullets), N.J.S.A. 2C:39-3f(1). All three men were remanded to the Bergen County Jail pending their first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack, NJ.
