Bergenfield NJ, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of VICTOR CHITAY (DOB:1/07/1984; single; roofing contractor) of Bergenfield, New Jersey on sexual assault and child endangerment charges. The arrest was the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Jason Love and the Bergenfield Police Department under the direction of Chief Mustafa Rabboh.
On Monday, November 29, 2021, the Bergenfield Police Department contacted the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office regarding the sexual assault of a child younger than 13. An investigation was initiated by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit and the Bergenfield Police Department. During the investigation, it was determined that the victim was sexually assaulted by VICTOR CHITAY on more than one occasion.
As a result of the investigation, on Monday, November 29, 2021, VICTOR CHITAY was arrested and charged with three counts of first-degree aggravated sexual assault, N.J.S.A. 2C:14-2a(1); one count of second-degree sexual assault by contact, N.J.S.A. 2C:14-2b; and one count of second-degree endangering the welfare of a child, N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4a(1). CHITAY was transported to the Bergen County Jail pending his first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court.
Prosecutor Musella states that the charges are merely accusations and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt and would like to thank the Bergenfield Police Department for their assistance with this investigation.
