RIDGEWOOD — Police have arrested a 23-year-old village resident on possession of drugs and ammunition.

Working with units from the Bergen County Sheriff’s Department, Ridgewood officers executed a search warrant on Tuesday at the Pershing Avenue residence of Alex Norrell.

Police searching the home discovered an unspecified amount of marijuana along with some drug paraphernalia, authorities said.

Officers also found ammunition inside the home. But when reached Wednesday for details, Ridgewood Police Chief John Ward refused to talk about how much or what kind of ammunition was seized.

  1. Nice job all involved.

  2. Dam union thugs salved another one. Good job.

  3. Another Lax bro ?

  4. Solved.

  5. I don’t get it. I’m really not thick, either. What is the specific connection between this Ridgewood resident, his alleged possession of drug paraphernalia and so-called ‘ammunition’, and the damage done via firearms at the Old Paramus Church?

  6. There is a connection I’m sure. The investigation is just not over yet. Trust me, the SWAT team doesn’t just converge on a house unless they have good solid info.

  7. WOW #5 Its just a coincident .

    You are thick.

  9. #5 – I don’t get it either…why shoot up a church if all your interested in is taking the gold used to distribute Communion, etc ?

Just break in through the window or kick down a door….

  10. #5 these thing don’t happen in Ridgewood The holes in the church were just cause by termite .

  11. #9, this is #5. Thank you for chiming in and expressing a similar sentiment. Misery loves company.

#8 (who is probably also #7), if you can’t understand why one need not be thick in order to fail to understand connections between people, things and events being urged upon us by government, then you may need to start thinking more deeply about things. It has taken me decades to develop what now I believe to be an appropriate level of skepticism when it comes to what the government says about pretty much anything at any given point in time. Having now seen my initial instincts in this regard proven correct, time after time, for many years straight, I am not inclined to re-evaluate my approach at the first sign of ridicule from the likes of you. That said, if you have anything to say that might set me straight in terms of the facts of this case, including how they add up to proof (or at least some reasonable inference) that the Ridgewood resident in question actually shot up the Old Paramus church, keeping in mind the well-deserved reputation Grand Juries have for indicting ham sandwiches, I’d be happy to hear it.

  12. See Cliffview Pilot for a story that makes sense.

  13. Makes sense to me. the location of the holes indicates someone firing from the street, probably a car on Glen (staionary, not moving). There was no robbery, just juvenile vandalism. A neighborhood punk would fit the profile. No doubt the connection was made from matching spent casings and bullets to ammo in the house.

  14. If the shots were fired from the old graveyard, then we should suspect a sinister plot.

  15. Read the Cliffview Pilot story for more information. I think the whole family is in need of help. His younger brother was the kid who claimed to have been mugged and slashed on Walthery and it turns out he owed his drug dealer money. A few months ago, he posts a threat to RHS on Yik Yak. Now we have the older brother shooting up the windows of the church. This guy is a returned U.S. Marine so maybe, perhaps, PTSD? The scary part is he had high capacity magazines in the house along with high powered rifles, drugs, etc.

  16. A .223 caliber fully automatic (military style) assault rifle was allegedly used according to the article.

A wide spray of many small diameter bullet holes appears along the north wall of the church. It looks as if someone who wasn’t familiar with the weapon was standing in the graveyard and mistakenly pulled the trigger when it was switched to full auto. The kick of the weapon must have been unexpected, because the pattern of bullet holes extends from about six feet high through the window, to the right and upward along the stone or concrete wall. The investigators say the pattern extends all the way upward to the slate roof. That’s a lot of bullets.

The stained glass windows are completely protected on their exterior sides by quarter inch thick plastic panels that are spaced about 4 inches away from the glass windows. The differences in the angles in which the bullet holes in the plastic panels line up with the corresponding bullet holes in the glass panes of the window seem to indicate that the shooter was probably standing or sitting inside the wrought iron fenced area of the adjacent graveyard (about 15-20 feet from the building) rather than in a car on East Glen Avenue or on or near the curb (about 50-60 feet from the building).

This was clearly a potentially lethal event that has not been exaggerated. So, there’s no doubt that the investigators and local and county law enforcement officers acted professionally and with the right degree of urgency.

  17. He’ll get pti.
    No jail time.

  18. Great job cops
