Glen Rock NJ, last week, a car was stolen, and multiple vehicles were burglarized in Glen Rock, according to local police.

On Thursday, August 26, at 6:42 a.m., a North Haledon resident reported their 2022 Honda Civic was stolen overnight while parked in a driveway on Highwood Avenue. The car was unlocked, with the key fob left inside. Among the stolen items were an Apple Watch, $45 in cash, a debit card, and a credit card.

Shortly after the report, another resident on the same block told police they heard yelling outside their home and found a Ford car key in their driveway. Police later discovered a stolen 2008 Ford Fusion on Norwood Avenue near Henry Street, which matched the recovered key. The Fusion had been reported stolen from Hawthorne.

While the Honda Civic wasn’t recovered immediately, it was later found by Paterson police on 10th Avenue at 1:49 a.m. on August 28. Glen Rock and Hawthorne detectives are investigating both thefts as related crimes.

Vehicle Break-Ins

On Sunday, September 1, police received reports of cars being entered overnight on Doremus Avenue and Leone Court. Home surveillance footage captured a man attempting to enter driveways and vehicles between 1:22 and 1:30 a.m. The suspect, described as a light-skinned male with short hair, a slight beard, wearing an orange hoodie and black shorts, successfully entered two vehicles, stealing approximately $3,000 worth of property, including a laptop, Corsair headphones, a hard drive, and a Swiss Army knife. He fled in what appeared to be an older black Nissan Sentra.

Police also received a report from a resident of the Rock Road Central Business District, where another unlocked vehicle was entered. The suspect stole a wallet containing $20, credit cards, and a driver’s license.

Police Urge Residents to Stay Vigilant

From August 26 to September 1, the Glen Rock police handled 346 calls for service. In response to these incidents, police are once again reminding residents to lock their homes, vehicles, and bicycles, and never leave key fobs or valuables inside vehicles.

“If you see suspicious activity, do not confront the person—call 911 immediately,” police said. “Numerous arrests have been made, but these crimes continue. Personal vigilance is your best defense.”

  2. The only things anybody could get out of my car would be a lot of old tote bags. And they would have to break in to do it.

No wonder thieves can’t resist. The pickings are lush!

  3. Was it parked by the Basketball Court ???
