Fair Lawn NJ, Columbia Bank is pleased to announce it has been selected as a recipient of a  national Bank Customer Experience Award (“BCX Award”) for “Best Branch Experience.” The BCX Awards honor the  most unique, innovative and pioneering financial institutions and technology providers whose branches and technologies  have the most impact on consumers. The award was presented to Columbia Bank on August 31, 2022 at a special  ceremony held at the Bank Customer Experience Summit in Chicago, Illinois.

Fair Lawn Teen Joy Ride Ends in Police Chase

Fair Lawn NJ, on Saturday July 23rf  6:38 pm Fair Lawn Det. Geovanny Buitron, while sitting in his police vehicle on Brookside Avenue at Margaret Court, observed a vehicle driving at a high speed through that neighborhood and pursued the vehicle until it stopped at a residence on Berdan Avenue, where the operator attempted to run off before he was stopped by the detective. The operator, a 16-year-old male from Fair Lawn, was released to a parent at his residence. He was charged on a juvenile petition to family court with eluding & resisting arrest.

Fair Lawn NJ, No injuries were reported following a crash in which a passenger car slammed head on into a Quick Mart convenience store located at 17-11 Broadway, Fair Lawn on Tuesday morning, 08/23, at approximately 10 AM. Fair Lawn Police, Fair Lawn Heavy Rescue, and Fair Lawn Fire Company #1 responded to the incident. A flatbed tow truck removed the vehicle from the scene. There was no emergent structural damage to the store.

High Speed Chase Ends in Crash in Fair Lawn

Fair Lawn NJ, a vehicle pursuit by multiple Passaic County Sheriff’s Department patrol units terminated in a crash on the entrance ramp to Route 208 northbound from Maple Avenue northbound in Fair Lawn at approximately 11:00 PM on Sunday, 08/21, One (1) occupant of the pursued vehicle was taken into custody for an unknown reason. The subject matter vehicle, a 4-door VW or Audi, was impounded by Sheriff’s Department officers and removed from the scene by a flatbed tow truck. Glen Rock Police and Fair Lawn Police officers assisted with traffic control. A Glen Rock EMS crew evaluated multiple occupants of crashed vehicle, but there were no injuries that required transportation to a hospital. A traffic control device was damaged in the crash.

Fair Lawn NJ,  Columbia Bank is proud to announce its sponsorship of the 2022 Historically  Black College or University (HBCU) Scholarship Ride, an annual 216 mile bike ride from Newark, New Jersey to Howard  University in Washington, DC. The program was instituted to raise scholarship monies awarded to high school graduates  in Newark who will attend an HBCU, and help bridge the gap between a deserving student’s desire for educational  excellence, and the ability to pay for that experience.

Fair Lawn Police Department announces a pilot program for Borough residents to have their catalytic converters etched and registered

Fair Lawn NJ, the Fair Lawn Police Department recognizes catalytic converter thefts are on the rise. In an effort to help prevent theft and track the thieves and scrap yards in the event of a theft, the Fair Lawn Police Departmen announces a pilot program for Borough residents to have their catalytic converters etched and registered. We are surveying the communities’ level of interest in participating in this program. If sufficient interest is received, the program will move forward and dates will be scheduled. The process consists of an application of a high temperature tamper proof decal combined with acid etching of the vehicle’s catalytic converter(s). Rollover Crash on Broadway Eastbound near Saddle River Road in Fair Lawn Results in massive Rush Hour Traffic Back Up on Thursday

Fair Lawn NJ, A two (2) vehicle Thursday morning, 08/04, crash with rollover on Broadway eastbound near Saddle River Road in Fair Lawn resulted in massive rush hour traffic back ups on Broadway/Route 4 and Route 208. Fair Lawn Police, Fair Lawn Fire Department, and Fair Lawn Heavy Rescue responded to the incident. Paramus Police and Paramus EMS assisted. A flatbed tow truck righted the flipped vehicle (a Honda Civic), and removed both wrecks from the scene.

Fair Lawn Police Bust Catalytic Converter Thief after 6 Go Missing at Bus Depot

Fair Lawn NJ, on 6/13/22 at 5:41 am, Fair Lawn Police responded to the school bus depot at 18-02 River Road on a report of catalytic converters missing from six vehicles with a total loss of $18,000. Det. Chris O’Shaughnessy took over the investigation and was able to identify a suspect (identified by Det. Schmiedhauser of Butler Police) that he sent to surrounding police departments to assist in apprehending.

“Turn on, tune in, drop out ” , 60’s Style Party Bus Gets Pulled Over in Fair Lawn

Fair Lawn NJ, An unknown number of summonses were issued by Fair Lawn Police late Wednesday morning, 07/20, in connection with an incident in which individuals were observed riding on the roof of a repurposed mini school bus while it was being driven on Route 208 northbound in Fair Lawn. The vehicle had initially been spotted driving on Route 4 westbound in Paramus, near Paramus Road. Paramus Police notified Fair Lawn Police via two-way radio to be on the lookout for the vehicle on Broadway or on Route 208.

Driver Walks Away after Vehicle Goes Through a Stone Wall in Fair Lawn

Fair Lawn NJ, Fair Lawn Rescue Squad  was called to assist with a vehicle off the road through a stone wall near Well Drive and High Street . Fortunately the driver was able to exit the vehicle under his own power. The vehicle was pulled off the embankment, and towed away. The area was secured with road barricades until it is safely repaired.

Torrential Downpours Cause flash flooding Across North Jersey

Fair Lawn NJ, multiple towns in Bergen and Passaic counties reported flash floods and closed roads after thunderstorms moved through the area.

At least five (5) passenger vehicles were destroyed Monday afternoon, 07/18, by a flash flood waters on Broadway in Fair Lawn, underneath the New Jersey Transit railroad tracks, near Fair Lawn’s border with Elmwood Park. All vehicles’ drivers & passengers safely self-evacuated prior to the arrival of rescue personnel. A police authorized towing company was on scene beginning the removal process before flood waters even began to lower. No injuries were reported. Traffic was detoured around the flooded roadway for an extended period.

Sharp Eyed Fair Lawn Residents Foil Afternoon Home Break In

Fair Lawn NJ , Two (2) individuals were taken into custody by Fair Lawn Police within minutes after fleeing the scene of a brazen Thursday afternoon, 07/14, burglary of single family home located in the 0-00 block of Plaza Road, Fair Lawn. A witness reportedly dialed 911 after seeing the individuals make entry into the residence. One (1) of the suspects was captured after a resident telephoned police to report that an individual was hiding under her deck. No injuries were reported by either side involved in the apprehensions, which were made with the assistance of numerous law enforcement agencies.
