Phone Scam Edited 2

the staff of the Ridgewood blog

Glen Rock NJ, Glen Rock Police Department has issued a FRAUD ALERT. Glen Rock Police  report that they received word that there is a fraudulent email going around town soliciting donations for a sick child. A quick internet search reveals this is just a new twist on similar frauds that play on people’s compassion to take money from them. As with ANY request for money, the

Glen Rock Police Department urges everyone to verify IN PERSON or via TELEPHONE with people you know to ensure they are actually making the request and this is not some type of scam. The majority of these frauds originate outside the US and the Glen Rock Police Department can do very little to prevent or prosecute these criminals. Prevention and education are key to protecting yourself. Please help pass the word.

Glen Rock NJ, A Superior Court judge has struck down a variance granted to an age-restricted apartment project planned for a Prospect Street residential zone in Glen Rock,In 2017, the Glen Rock Zoning Board of Adjustment approved the variance permitting construction of the 52-unit rental complex in a single-family residential zone adjacent to a Ridgewood Water facility. The Glen Park Village project was first pitched as senior housing in 2013, but just months before the zoning board’s 2017 decision, the Glen Rock Borough Council twice rejected ordinances against rezoning the 2-acre property to permit high-density housing. Their consideration came at the request of Glen Park. A neighbor-driven petition was given to the council in advance of their vote. The council’s action prompted the developer to pursue a use variance with the zoning board.

The Glen Rock Police Department share a recent message from PSE&G regarding recent scam activity

Phone Scam Edited 2

the staff of the Ridgewood Blog

Glen Rock NJ, The Glen Rock Police Department would like to share a recent message from PSE&G regarding recent scam activity. If you have any questions, or feel that you may have fallen victim for this scam, please contact the police department for further assistance.

Be Aware of Scam Activity

PSE&G wants to alert New Jersey residents and businesses that scammers have spoofed one of our phone numbers in attempt to obtain personal information from our customers. We have been receiving inquiries from customers returning calls they received from a PSE&G phone number that appeared on their caller I.D. We encourage you to view the video of a recent news interview with Fred Daum, PSE&G’s Executive Director of Customer Operations.
In light of this recent activity, if you receive an unexpected call from PSE&G in the coming days you should hang up as it may be a scammer. If you have pending business with us, such as an appointment or payment notice, call us back on the number provided on your bill or call our customer service line, 800-436-PSEG (7734).
When a scammer pretends to work for PSE&G, they will often request personal data such as credit card information or account passwords. Never provide this type of personal information. When a customer calls PSE&G to conduct account business, PSE&G has numerous secure methods for verifying customer information.
Callers have recently reported that scammers have asked for personal information to obtain a meter reading, provide discounts on your PSE&G bill, or verify debit and credit cards on file. Such tactics are known utility scams, the most popular of which is a demand for immediate payment to avoid service termination. Before terminating service, PSE&G alerts customers in a number of ways: messages on their bill, letters and phone calls. PSE&G would never demand a specific type of payment nor threaten immediate service termination. While there are many ways to pay a PSE&G bill, the utility only accepts credit card and prepaid card payments through Western Union Speedpay, which charges a $3.95 processing fee.

Gottheimer, who was not at his Glen Rock office at the time of the demonstration, has a primary challenge on his hands and has been accused by far lefties and progressives of playing both sides of the aisle.

For one hour, between 9:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m., a little over a dozen protesters, led by Susan Steinberg, called for impeachment inquiries to be opened, citing the Mueller Report and asserting that the president had undermined the democratic process during the election, colluding with Russian elements, and obstruction of justice, among other charges.

Glen Rock NJ, Glen Rock Mayor comments on Rock Road and Maple Ave road work ,”Please know that, for whatever it is worth, I share the frustration of residents who found it difficult or impossible to get to Rock Road at any time over the past few days while the milling was being done.
I was told that there would be access at all times though it might be difficult. My wife had to go to Fair Lawn to get to a Bank of America.
I find this unacceptable and can only assure you that I’m doing whatever I can to help the situation going forward and have asked the Borough employees who are coordinating the effort to help in our efforts to make this better going forward.”

Glen Rock Mayor Bruce Packer

Glen Rock NJ, Glen Rock Mayor Bruce Packer , “Over my 3 1/2 years of being mayor, I have made transparency and openness my #1 priority. It was easy because my natural tendency is to be open and share info, even it may be more than people want to hear.
It is for this reason that I was so extremely bothered when, at the last council worksession, a resident stated that I see “transparency as a dirty word.”
