Hawthorne NJ, A 30-foot long box trailer being pulled by a tractor got impaled on the retaining wall of a single family home in Hawthorne late Wednesday afternoon, 07/17. The mishap occurred after the tractor’s driver followed his GPS’ commands and erroneously wound up on Brockhuizen Lane, a very steep, narrow, winding, dead end street.

Six Car Rush Hour Pile Up on 208 leads to Major Delays

Hawthorne NJ, A six (6) vehicle, late Monday afternoon, 07/08, chain reaction crash on Route 208 southbound in Hawthorne left only the right shoulder open for travel, which caused major delays for rush hour commuters. No injuries were reported in the pile up, but tow trucks were summoned to remove five (5) wrecked vehicles from the highway. Glen Rock Police assisted Hawthorne Police at the scene.

Jersey City NJ, The Hudson County Federation of Republican Women held a successful launch party June 29, Saturday night at Dorrian’s Red Hand in Jersey City. Dedicated to empowering female voices and growing women’s leadership, the launch party celebrated the newly chartered Hudson County chapter of the New Jersey Federation of Republican Women (NJFRW). The launch party was attended by women and men from across the county as well as NJ Congressional District 5 candidate Dana DiRisio, US Senate hopeful Natalie Rivera, and Gubernatorial candidate Jack Ciattarelli. GOP leaders in attendance included Hoboken Municipal Committee Chairman Chris Carbine, Hispanic Republicans of North Jersey Herminio Mendoza, NJ GOP State Committeeman from Hudson County Joshua Sotomayor Einstein, NJFRW Region 2 Vice President Celeste Homaychak, and NJFRW President Angelique Scholl.

Essex County Man Convicted Of Wire Fraud And Massive Identity Theft

NEWARK NJ, An Essex County, New Jersey, man was convicted for his role in a scheme to steal victims’ personal information, use it to obtain replacement credit cards and then use the cards to purchase high-value items from retailers, U.S. Attorney Craig Carpenito announced today.

Richard Adebayo, 42, of East Orange, New Jersey, was convicted June 27, 2019, on all counts of an indictment charging him with one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud, 14 counts of wire fraud and two counts of aggravated identity theft following a nine-day trial before Judge Madeline Cox Arleo in Newark federal court. The jury deliberated one day before returning the guilty verdicts.

Former Hoboken City Council Candidate Convicted of Conspiring in Vote for Cash Bribery Scheme

Hoboken NJ, A former candidate for the Hoboken City Council was convicted today of conspiring to promote a voter bribery scheme by use of the mail, U.S. Attorney Craig Carpenito announced. 

Francis Raia, 67, of Hoboken, New Jersey, was a candidate for Hoboken City Council in 2013. He was convicted of one count of conspiracy to violate the federal Travel Act for causing the mails to be used in aid of voter bribery, contrary to New Jersey state law, during that election. The jury deliberated for one day, following a five-day trial before Senior U.S. District Judge William J. Martini in Newark federal court.

Upper Freehold Twp NJ, A New Jersey State Trooper swam to rescue a stranded kayaker, who fell overboard while fishing on Assunpink Lake in Upper Freehold Twp., Monmouth County.

On Sunday, June 23, at approximately 4:06 p.m., Troopers responded to Assunpink Lake for the report of an overturned kayak. When troopers arrived, they observed a man clinging to the capsized vessel approximately 150 yards from shore.

Hawthorne NJ, Hawthorne Police and Hawthorne Fire Deartment responded to a single family home at 3 Mary Street, Hawthorne on Friday morning, 06/21 to assess damage caused by a falling tree. No injuries were reported by the home’s occupants and structural damage was classified as moderate. Members of Hawthorne Fire Tower 2, Engine 3, and Rescue 5 operated at the scene.

Westfield NJ, A Delaware man was apprehended outside a Westfield elementary school when he was found to be in possession of a handgun and numerous rounds of ammunition Thursday afternoon, after classes had let out for the day, acting Union County Prosecutor Jennifer Davenport announced Friday.

Thomas J. Wilkie, 46, of Bear, Delaware, is charged with second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon, fourth-degree possession of hollow-point bullets, and fourth-degree trespassing on school grounds.

Rami Zubidat, 31, pleaded guilty before U.S. District Judge Susan D. Wigenton in Newark federal court to an information charging him with one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud.

Hawthorne NJ, The body of an individual believed to have been homeless was found on a bench in front of the Dunkin’ Donuts located at 84 Goffle Road, Hawthorne at 7:16 AM on Saturday morning, 05/25. Paramedics from The Valley Hospital officially pronounced the individual dead shortly after 7:30 AM. Hawthorne Police is handling the investigation.
