Clifton NJ, the Catholic Diocese of Paterson is investigating the disappearance of cash, checks, and credit card information from approximately 500 North Jersey donors. The missing contributions, intended for the annual Diocesan Ministries Appeal, were last seen at the diocese office in Clifton in late October before being dropped off for shipping.

Division of Consumer Affairs Announce $640,000 Settlement with Defunct NJ Cosmetology School in Paramus

Paramus NJ, Attorney General Matthew J. Platkin and the Division of Consumer Affairs (“the Division”) announced today that a now-defunct New Jersey cosmetology school and its related entities have agreed to pay nearly $640,000 – a majority of which will be used for consumer restitution – to resolve the State’s lawsuit alleging they defrauded students and engaged in substandard business practices that financially harmed students. In a separate settlement with the State Board of Cosmetology and Hairstyling (“the Board”), the school also agreed to surrender its licenses to operate in New Jersey.

Clifton NJ, on 6/18/22, Clifton Police officers responded to the area of Valley Road on the report of a suspicious act in progress. Once our officers arrived on scene, one of the involved parties; specifically, Alberto J. Maymi-Sepulveda (42 years of age), began to flee the scene in a vehicle. While in the process of doing so, he slammed the door on the officer who was attempting to stop him. The suspect then accelerated and struck the officer with the vehicle as he fled from the scene. (The officer suffered arm contusions as a result of the incident).

Clifton NJ, Earlier yesterday, Clifton Police officers responded to the 300 block of Lexington Avenue on the report of an individual lighting clothes on fire inside an apartment. They arrived to find a combative party who refused to open the door. After determining that the fire was no longer burning, patrol officers tried to negotiate with the individual from the hallway. However, he grew more angry and began to toss chairs and other hard objects from the second floor window, damaging patrol cars that were parked outside.

Car drives off Garden State Parkway and crashes into Clifton townhouse

Clifton NJ, early Wednesday afternoon the Clifton Fire Department and the New Jersey State Police received a call for a vehicle that drove off the Garden State Parkway. E6, T2 and NJ State Police arrived and found a vehicle that drove well off the road and down an embankment at Cambridge Crossing townhouses.  The driver was taken to an area hospital with non life threatening injuries.

Clifton NJ, the NJ Attorney General’s Office is investigating an incident that took place earlier this morning at a hotel in Clifton, N.J., during which a man allegedly slashed a police officer in the face with a knife, and two other officers fired their service weapons at the man. The man, who was not hit by the gunfire, later stabbed himself in the chest during a subsequent encounter with police at the hotel. The 35-year-old man, whose identity is not being released at this time, was transported to St. Joseph’s University Medical Center in Paterson, where he underwent surgery and remains hospitalized.
