Twp. of Washington NJ, on Thursday May 15, 2025 at approximately 2046 Hrs, Township of Washington Police Department received a report that a juvenile was “hurt” by their Coach, Mr. Ruben Baerga of New Jersey Striders.
Twp. of Washington NJ, on Monday May 19, 2025 at approximately 1220 HRS, a male party was observed walking around the Westwood Regional High School property. Surveillance Camera footage was obtained which it showed a motorcycle was driving into the east lot of the Westwood Regional High School off Ellen Place. The motorcycle parked near the school busses in the east lot. The male driver dismounted from the motorcycle, pulled the hood from his sweatshirt over his head, and walked towards the Board of Education entrance. The male then walked towards the front entrance of the building. Moments later, he went back to the motorcycle and left the school property. He was last observed driving westbound on Ridgewood Road from the High School.

The company filed its latest petition in a New Jersey bankruptcy court, listing liabilities between $1 billion and $10 billion, signaling continued struggles to stay afloat amid rising debt, inflationary pressures, and fierce competition.
Twp. of Washington NJ, there is an emergency road closure on Hoover Avenue between Jackson Avenue and Curtis Place due to a large tree that has fallen during the overnight hours. Currently, PSE&G and emergency crews are aware of the situation and are working to clear the roadway, which is expected to continue into the daylight hours.
Twp. of Washington NJ, starting on Tuesday April 22, 2025 between the hours of 7:00am and approximately 4:00pm The Village of Ridgewood will be conducting water main work on Van Emburgh Avenue and East Glen Avenue . East Glen Avenue and Van Emburgh Avenue will be detoured to Hampshire Road today thru Friday April 25, 2025. Southbound traffic on Van Emburgh Avenue will be able to go through Eastgate Road to access East Saddle River Road and Rt 17 if needed. Please allow for extra travel time and follow all posted detours.
Twp. of Washington NJ, on Sunday April 13th and Tuesday April 15th the Township of Washington Police Department will be conducting a training exercise at the Westwood Regional Jr./Sr. High School between the hours of 8:00am and 5:00pm.
Those traveling in the area of the school are asked not to be alarmed by the police presence while the training event takes place.
Township of Washington J, the Township Theatre has implemented new admission rules for “A Minecraft Movie” following a vandalism incident involving a large group of unsupervised minors during a Friday night screening.
Twp of Washington NJ, Flood Advisory has been issued for parts of Northeast New Jersey, including Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Passaic, and Union counties. Residents should prepare for urban and small stream flooding due to excessive rainfall.
Twp. of Washington NJ, a new front has opened in New Jersey’s education wars, as left-leaning Boards of Education shift their focus from curriculum control and parental authority to discrediting private schools. The latest example comes from the Westwood and Township of Washington Board of Education (BOE), where recent comments by Board President Jason Garcia appear to take aim at private education and the growing number of parents opting out of public schools.
Twp. of Washington NJ, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of 58-year-old JED D. PHYKITT of Dalton, MN, formerly of Twp. of Washington, on charges of sexual assault. The arrest was the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit under the direction of Chief Matthew Finck.
Twp. of Washington NJ, on Wednesday January 22, 2025 the Township of Washington Police Department was dispatched to a residence in the 300 block of Beech Street for a reported suspicious package. The package was a brown cardboard box which came from an overseas address and was unexpected by the resident. Due to the nature of the call, Beech Street was closed and nearby houses were evacuated. Washington Township Fire Department, Washington Township Ambulance, Bergen County Sheriff’s Department, Bergen County Sheriffs K9, Bergen County Sheriff’s Bomb Squad and Bergen County Hazmat were dispatched as well.
Twp of Washington NJ, the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection reports that Avian Influenza, also known as Bird Flu, is suspected to have caused the deaths of multiple wild birds, predominantly snow geese, across the state this week. Preliminary in-state testing has reported presumptive positive results from 7 snow geese, 2 Canada geese, and 2 hawks recovered from Warren, Middlesex, Morris, and Sussex Counties.
Twp. of Washington NJ, the Township of Washington Police Department would like to inform the residents that yesterday December 18, 2024 at approximately 8:47 PM Patrol was dispatched to residence on the west side of town for an Attempted Burglary call. It appears one actor was going to possibly attempt entry into a home, which was monitored by the homeowner’s camera system. Patrol responded, canvassed the entire area with negative results.
Twp. of Washington NJ, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the sentencing term handed down in Bergen County Superior Court against 59-year-old PATRICK J. CAMILLI of Washington Township, NJ in connection with his recent conviction for the 2021 murder of Mary E. Huber.
