Washington DC, House Democrats voted Friday to defend localities that allow illegal immigrants to vote in their elections, turning back a GOP attempt to discourage the practice. The vote marks a stunning reversal from just six months ago, when the then GOP controlled chamber voted against illegal immigrant voting.
The 228-197 vote came as part of a broader debate on Democrats’ major legislative priority this year, HR 1, the “For the People Act,” which includes historic expansions of voter registration and access to illegal aliens , as well as a major rewrite of campaign finance laws. The measure however will have had no practical effect even if it had passed. Illegal immigrants and indeed noncitizens as a whole are not legally able to participate in federal elections.

Rumson NJ, A former Cornell University student from Rumson (Monmouth County) who stockpiled weapons in his Ithaca, New York, apartment received a sentence of two years in prison on February 19. Maximilien R. Reynolds, 21, pleaded guilty to federal charges of willfully causing false statements to be made to a licensed firearms dealer during the purchase of a firearm and possessing firearms not registered in the National Firearms Registry and Transfer Record. During a search of Reynolds’ apartment in March, authorities found a military-style rifle, ammunition, tactical gear, chemicals and components that can be used to make explosives, and other items. Reynolds resided in Ithaca while attending community college during an academic leave of absence from Cornell. A tip from a store employee regarding suspicious behavior from Reynolds and the purchase of large quantities of ammunition prompted police to initiate an investigation. Investigators noted that Reynolds’ girlfriend stated she was “somewhat concerned” about him. As part of his plea, Reynolds admitted he gave another student money in November 2017 to purchase the rifle, which he made illegal by cutting down the barrel. He also acknowledged that he had a bomb and firearms silencer, as well as a semi-automatic pistol with an obliterated serial number. In addition to his prison term, Reynolds will be subject to three years of supervised release and is mandated to receive mental health services and drug treatment.

Glen Rock NJ, in a case of political correctness run amuck , Glen Rock Public Schools backs out of an American Legion Coloring Contests as cartoon of US Military is called offensive .
Statement from Bruce Watson, Interim Superintendent regarding the American Legion Coloring Contest :
“I have received a number of emails regarding my decision not to have our 4th and 5th grade students participate in this year’s American Legion Coloring Contest. This has caused me to pause. Perhaps I had too much concern for the impact of the picture. Today we look at everything thru a different lens when it comes to our students. There was no disrespect intended to our veterans and now after listening to parents, I will reverse this decision and allow the pictures to go home for parents and students to decide if they wish to compete.”
Selection to go to a military academy DOES have A LOT to do with internal desire. No argument there.
HOWEVER, a school IS also one of the MAJOR contributors to shaping a student into a successful military academy candidate.
Obviously the emphasis on stingent academics is a part of it, but there are many schools with sringent academics (and for the sake of this discussion will allow that Ridgewoods academics are stringent – even though I beleive they can be significantly improved). BUT, a school also significantly influences (more than we’d like to admit) a student’s priorities. This is where Ridgewood falls down significantly. . A school DOES have a lot to do with producing attractive candidates for military academies. . So: 1) if a student DOES NOT have drive, ambition, persistence and leadership qualities EVEN if they attend a school that prepares them for a military academy, they will never get into one. and 2) if a student DOES have drive, ambition, persistence and leadership qualities and attend a school that DOES NOT prepare them for a military academy, they will never get into one. . Obviously there are other factors (parents, etc.) that are also critical to being a successful candidate, but I am limiting my comments to “school” and “internal desire”.

Ridgewood NJ, A huge part of growing up is doing your own taxes. In fact, some people consider it to be the toughest part of becoming an independent individual. Not only are most of us bad at math, but also, where do we start? How do taxes work? What do you get taxed for? How much should you pay? All of these are questions that often face every single person as they are starting out their own lives. These are also questions that people tend to ask whenever they move into a different state; it can be exceptionally confusing because of the difference between what you were used to in your previous state and your current situation. However, there is no need to stress about it because of two reasons; stress isn’t healthy for you at all, and also because this guide is going to show you how to take care of your taxes if you happen to be living in the wonderful New Jersey.

Trenton NJ, Gov. Phil Murphy and U.S. Sen. Cory Booker called for fellow Democrat Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam to step down after a 1984 medical school yearbook surfaced Friday showing him in a photo in which one person is dressed in blackface and another is wearing a Ku Klux Klan uniform.
The yearbook image opened old wounds in the Democratic party and was first published Friday afternoon by the conservative news site Big League Politics. The Virginian-Pilot later obtained a copy from Eastern Virginia Medical School, which Northam attended. The photo, one of several on a page dedicated to Northam, shows two people posing — one in blackface wearing a hat, bow tie and plaid pants; the other in a Ku Klux Klan robe.
One of the inconvient truths about the Democratic Party is that the Democratic Party defended slavery, started the Civil War, founded the KKK, and fought against every major civil rights act in U.S. history.
