Celebrate Baron von Steuben’s Birthday at the Baron’s Oktoberfest!

River Edge NJ, join the Bergen County Historical Society for a day of fun and history at the annual Baron’s Oktoberfest on Saturday, September 28th (Rain date: Sunday, Sept. 29th) from 1 pm to 6 pm at Historic New Bridge Landing, 1201 Main Street, River Edge.

What to Expect:

  • Craft Beer Tasting: Sample the best of Bergen County brews from Gearblock Brewing, Brix City Brewery, and Hackensack Brewery. (Additional cost)
  • Family Fun: Enjoy cornhole games and free pumpkin picking and decorating for the little ones.
  • Delicious Food: Grab a bite from a variety of food vendors on site.
  • Meet the Major General: Take a photo with Major General Baron von Steuben himself!
  • Revolutionary War Reenactment: Watch Mott’s Artillery demonstrate cannon firing and Revolutionary military life.
  • Live Music: Tap your feet to the lively tunes of Particle Theory.
  • Historic House Tours: Explore all three 18th-century Jersey-Dutch Sandstone houses, including the 1752 Steuben House. New exhibits featuring Revolutionary War artifacts will also be on display.
  • Westervelt-Thomas Barn: Stop by the barn and learn about Jersey-Dutch heritage.
  • Bavarian Pretzels: Visit the out kitchen to see authentic pretzels being prepared by BCHS interpreters.
  • Refreshments and Gifts: Don’t miss out on cider, donuts, and other fall treats available for purchase, and browse the treasures in the gift shop.

Ticket Info:

  • $15 for adults, $10 for BCHS Members and Students (12-21 years old). Children under 12 are free (must be accompanied by an adult).
  • Proceeds support the new museum at New Bridge Landing.

Additional Details:

  • Free parking is available on-site, or take the train to the New Bridge Landing station.
  • Well-behaved dogs on leashes are welcome (not allowed in houses).
  • Event is subject to change.
