Chicago Residents File Suit To Stop Delivery Of Free-Ad Papers

CHICAGO (CBS) — Residents in Humboldt Park and Logan Square have had it with those free ad-papers that pile up on your doorstep.

Publishers call them a service but some homeowners just call them a nuisance.

Now, they’ve taken action, and achieved some results, reports CBS 2’s Derrick Blakley.

For Humboldt Park resident Shehzad Hoossein, it’s a frustrating, daily ritual to pick up the free paper from the front lawn and toss it in the recycling bin.

“If you walk up and down the street here you’ll just see these all over the place. It’s just ugly,” said Hoosein.

Some houses get two or three a day, piled up on porches and littering the parkways. Hamilton Soto has lived in his Humboldt Park home for over 30 years.

  1. When I go away for the weekends, I have someone check my home twice a day. Once early in the am to get the paper, once at the end of the day to get my mail.
When one of these shitbrains tosses their ads on my driveway later in the day , it ‘advertises’ the fact that the home is unoccupied. The service that throws the garbage for the Bergen record has been advised to stop and it was made clear to them-this is private property and a littering complaint will be signed if it happens again. If more people did sign littering complaints it would stop. OR if your house gets broken into while there is a pile of these papers, make sure you sue them

  2. Agree with #1 100% this is a complete waste if you want a paper then just buy it no one needs the garbage.

  3. If we can we find a way to do this with junk mail I’d be all over it. I have all the credit cards I need. I do not need more, and I do not need to get a dozen letters a week with enclosed applications already pre-completed with half of my personal information.
