Ridgewood NJ, the Chief Michael Feeney Junior Police Academy is a one-week program designed to give children interested in law enforcement a hands-on experience similar to that of a police academy.
This week, Class 11 of the Chief Michael Feeney Jr Police Academy commenced with an array of engaging and educational activities. The young recruits received demonstrations from the Ridgewood Police and Fire Departments, Emergency Services, and the Glen Rock Motorcycle Unit.
A highlight of the week was the trip to U.S. Coast Guard Station Sandy Hook, where recruits witnessed demonstrations by the United States Coast Guard, the U.S. Park Police, and the K-9 unit from the Long Branch Police Department.
The academy also featured a thrilling helicopter landing by the NJ State Police, a presentation by the FBI, and interactive demonstrations by the Bergen County Regional SWAT team and the Bergen County Sheriff’s Department Bomb Squad.
This program not only provides a glimpse into the world of law enforcement but also instills a sense of discipline, teamwork, and community service among the participants. Kudos to all the recruits and the dedicated officers and personnel who made this week an unforgettable experience!

Wonderful program. Great so many youth are interested in learning.
Wow. How wonderful for the Village youth. I’m shocked that nobody is whining and complaining about the mayor being behind this, the Manager did something, and the money being spent, ya-da, ya-da? I’m impressed, or maybe the usual complainers took the day off.
This is worse than lying to kids about Santa Claus. Sorry, I’m late. I was watering my lawn.
