Hackettstown NJ, On Tuesday, January 21, 2020, U.S. Congressman Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5) held his 46th “Cup of Joe with Josh” Town Hall at the River Star Diner in Hackettstown. Dozens of Fifth District residents joined the discussion with Gottheimer about everything from reinstating the State and Local Tax (SALT) deduction to provide actual tax relief for our hardworking families, working with North Jersey utility companies to improve responsiveness to winter storms and subsequent power outages, to lowering out-of-pocket costs for prescription drugs, efforts to improve school safety, and his work leading the bipartisan Problem Solvers Caucus.

However when conversations and questions  got on the topic of impeachment  the exchanges were often testy, with Gottheimer’s constituents accusing him of dodging their queries and criticizing Democrats for appearing to revel in their attempt to remove the president from office.

“They’ve turned this into a farce. It’s a joke,” one man told him. “And I’m tired of it. And you voted for it.”

The Congressman tried to steer the conversation to less contentious issues. He touted his support of Trump’s decision to kill Iranian Gen. Qasem Soleimani, he explained bipartisan measures he backed to cut health care costs, he decried D.C. gridlock. But the diner crowd returned repeatedly to the charges against Trump. A few mentioned recent comments by Rep. Maxine Waters, D-California, that suggest Democrats could pursue a second impeachment.

  1. Does this guy ever do anything useful for NJ residents? How are people so naive to believe that he will do anything for them? Lower taxes? Sure. Cut healthcare costs? Sure. Impeach a President? Sure.

  2. He does whatever Nancy Pelosi tells him to do.
Don’t forget he was a speechwriter for the President that molested the intern.

  3. He works great for the takers but not for the givers. It’s the model for which the Democrats have become.

  4. I think he tries. He might be a good congressmen if he had some balls and pulled his head out of Polosi’s ass.

  5. Tried with a few constituents to get a meeting with him on specific issues. He dodged the meetings, had an aide take the meetings and she never got back on any of he specifics. This is how they respond – they will avoid you if they think the next voting cycle they will get enough votes to be reelected. And this was the voters answer to Garrett – I guess it’s true that you get the government you deserve (by your votes and activism)

  6. He’s more self-serving than most politicians.

  7. Yes, the Ridgewood assholes figured out that this douchebag was their answer to Garrett.
    They actually thought that.
    This prick.
And the liberal pricks that live here.
