CRR looks to Bring in own Urban planner representing residents
Dear Friend and CRR supporter,
CRR has asked for the opportunity to make a presentation before the Planning Board. While the negatives of Valley Hospital’s plan seem so obvious to you and me, this case cannot be made or won on emotion or common sense. This is a Municipal Land Use issue and we must stick to the facts if we are to stop this over-expansion.
We have sought out the advice of both Municipal Land Use attorneys and the Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy at Rutgers University, concluding that we must hire and pay for an urban planner to provide our Planning Board with the sound land use arguments to be able to reject the current Valley Hospital proposal.
We need to hire and pay for this planner by this Friday or the Planning Board will not allow us to make a presentation!
To that end, we have engaged the most highly qualified urban planner in our area – THE guy for representing residents facing overdevelopment in their community. However, THE guy, comes with a price – an estimated $10,000 for his professional services to research, create a presentation and address the Planning Board. We have already received a $1000 donation pledge, so we are looking to raise another $9000 before Friday afternoon.
So please, if there was ever a time for you to make a difference with your donation, it is now. If we do not raise this money in the next 48 hours, we will lose the opportunity to present our case before the Planning Board.
You can drop a check in my mailbox at 449 Beverly Rd, call me to pick up your donation or logon to https://www.stopvalley.com and make a paypal donation NOW!
Thank you! ~ marla
P.S. Please pass this message along to anyone you know who supports our efforts to stop the overdevelopment of Valley Hospital.
I really hope the CRR got the money. Anyone who cares about the future of this town should give something. These folks really have done a GREAT job of keeping a critical issue alive and they certainly do not get enough credit for it. $10,000 seems like a lot of money until you consider the consequences.
Even if you can’t donate, it’s free to speak your mind during the public comment sessions. Let them know what you think.
Isn’t there case law where David vs Goliath the village pays David’s attorney. Someone mentioned it recently and it really does make sense.
Unfortunately the Village is paying for Goliath in this case. On several levels.
I donated $250 today through the online donation page. Many in town can afford more.
Let’s get this going–the deadline is days away–and chip in whatever we can afford when other people are doing all the work for all these years? If we don’t pay now, we will all pay big time later.
Those “experts” should be ashamed of themselves. No effect on traffic, air, children, property values? Somebody with authority–a real expert–must call them on this.

For any Planning Board member inclined to vote No, an expert on the other side would provide backup to do so.
Dig deep and send money, please, and not five bucks.
Yes, David vs Goliath. This is a case where “the little guy” takes on a big, powerful opponent. How would we go about asking the village council to do this? Does anyone have an idea?
It seems to me that the village should REQUIRE their own independent expert to review the BS the valley experts are spinning. If you ask 5 “experts” about anything, you’re likely to get 3-5 different answers, so why should they just take valleys experts at their word? Every consultant I’ve ever seen in action found out what answer the bill payer wanted and found a way to reach that conclusion.
#7 Well said.
If you care even the slightest about the future of this town I would make sure you do everything you can to be at BF tonight at 7:30. Last night’s presentation by Valley’s ‘”expert” (B.S. in Management from Montclair State) was a farce. When you have to keep referring to the concerns about the safety of the children (no kidding!!!), you really have a problem.
how many children were killed or injured during ANY of the Valley Hospitals many construction projects #9……in case you didn’t know the answer it’s ZERO. Stop with all the drama about the Kids. Save the drama for your Momma.
First of all, Valley has never done anything this big. Second, I was not doing the presentation and mentioning the obvious the “expert” did. And third, my mother has been dead for over six years but I’m sure she is laughing at this charade.
