Cyclist Hit on North Van Dien in Ridgewood

Ridgewood NJ, A male juvenile who was riding a bicycle sustained a non-life threatening leg injury after being struck by a pickup truck at the intersection of North Van Dien and Linwood Avenues in Ridgewood on Tuesday, 12/01 at about 4:45 PM. The victim was transported by ambulance to The Valley Hospital. Ridgewood PD, EMS, and FD units responded to the scene.

  1. Sunset was at 4:26PM….I’ve seen several riders wearing dark clothing at dusk…..it’s an Idiot Festival out there !

  2. It is so hard for a driver to see when it is dark and rainy and when the glow of your iPhone is in your face

  3. More than likely someone leaving Valley Hospital who has been stuck at the light waiting to make the turn. I’m an adult with a fully lighted bicycle and I cannot tell you how many times I’ve almost been hit at that corner even after I’ve looked, waited, checked and rechecked before I attempt to cross.

  4. Apparently your no looking, waiting, checking, or rechecking long enough.
