THE RECORD
Campaign finance reports released Tuesday show that two incumbent Democratic Assemblymen have raised 11 times as much as their Republican challengers in the state’s 38th District, traditionally one of the more competitive districts in New Jersey.
Democratic Assemblymen Tim Eustace and Joseph Lagana have raised $699,620 to date compared to $62,088 for Republicans Mark DiPisa and Anthony Cappola, according to reports filed with the state Election Law Enforcement Commission.
Those reports show Cappola had raised $10,466 before dropping out of the race because of controversy over “Outrageous”, a book he self-published in 2003 that DiPisa called “offensive garbage” because of its negative depiction of blacks, Muslims, gays, seniors and other groups.
