Ridgewood NJ, The Ridgewood News is reporting that an L-shaped piece of land on the edge of the Village is being eyed by officials as the proposed site for a new village garage or fleet services building.( https://www.northjersey.com/news/205346291_Ridgewood_weighs_site_for_garage.html )
The current garage on Chestnut street has become antiquated and inefficient and the Village has been debating replacement for some time.
Deputy Mayor Al Pucciarelli the driving force behind the push to move the garage told the Ridgewood News that during the council’s meeting on Wednesday that 2 acres of land, located on the same site as the village’s water pollution plant, is “in many ways very suitable” for the new building, both in size and location. The water pollution plant is located on Prospect Street in Glen Rock, right on the village’s border with the borough.
Pucciarelli reiterated to the Ridgewood News his idea that the village would sell its Chestnut Street property, using the proceeds from that transfer to erect a new fleet services building.( https://www.northjersey.com/news/205346291_Ridgewood_weighs_site_for_garage.html )
There are no reports of any discussions with the Borough of Glen Rock and an estimated price tag was not given .The process would be a long one with approvals needed from the DEP. The new facility would also need a large fuel tank , gas pump, as well as a dome for salt storage further complicating the issue .
At this time no formal action was taken by the Village Council .
There is a huge lot that’s sat empty behind the Y for 5 years. Why the demand for the muni garage property? Who wants it?
Something doesn’t make sense to me.
the lot behind the y is owned by bolger it was slated for a storage facility.
The property on Prospect St, Glen Rock should be checked first for 100 yr & 500 yr flood status (definitely possible)-remember the damage at Village Hall. Imagine all that salt washing away into the river………..
every one just slow down a bit. the ground is full of old fuel. this will be big money to clean it up.
Its his way or the highway.
How much will the property tax cost village tax payers?
to number 5 that was at a other site. you need to get your info from the 1990’s.
The site of the old police pistol range is polluted with lead ( allegedly) they have to clean that up as well. Funny thing : if the site is lead polluted who gets held responsible for shutting down the police range improperly? It sounds as if this project is in that area
