Ridgewood NJ, The Ridgewood Police are reporting that Operation take back netted 74 pounds of unwanted prescription medication turned into the Ridgewood Police department on Saturday April 27th on National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day .
To reiterate the Ridgewood Police as to why should you turn in your unused or unwanted prescription medications for proper disposal :
Unused or expired prescription medications are a public safety issue, leading to accidental poisoning, overdose, and abuse.
Pharmaceutical drugs can be just as dangerous as street drugs when taken without a prescription or a doctor’s supervision.
The non-medical use of prescription drugs ranks second only to marijuana as the most common form of drug abuse in America.
The majority of teenagers abusing prescription drugs get them from family and friends – and the home medicine cabinet.
Unused prescription drugs thrown in the trash can be retrieved and abused or illegally sold. Unused drugs that are flushed contaminate the water supply. Proper disposal of unused drugs saves lives and protects the environment.
I guess thats good testimony to how over medicated we are as a population
I wonder how many pounds of Medical Marijuana (sic) they netted ?
I wonder how many liters of Vodka or Scotch (sic) they netted?
Why would anyone want to donate scotch? if they do I’ll give them an address Where they can send it
Vodka and Scotch don’t masquerade as medication…
#5 scotch makes great medication
They don’t have to, because they are legal, just like Marijuana should be. Or does your idea of freedom only go so far, patriot?
Make it legal or don’t.
Just don’t masquerade as medicine.
What a joke.
I actually know a cancer patient who uses MJ, and yes it improves his quality of life quite a bit with negligible bad side effects.
No different than any pain killer would. So it’s hardly a masquerade, or a joke. At least not to the people who need it.
So #7, you typed 10 too many words in your post.
Sorry Rob…
if approached clinically (like any real medicinal drug), the side effects for marijuana would make it undesirable.
New variations of the drug would work to minimize and filter out the side effects.
More patient friendly forms of delivery of the drug would be developed and marketed.
Instead, side effects are emphasized and enhanced.
No alternate forms of delivery are pursued.
Also, tell me any other prescription drug where you go to a specialty store to purchase it and you decide which strength and variety of the “drug” that you want to buy.
Calling marijuana a medicine is a joke and a farce.
You know it.
I know it.
Everyone knows it.
Those who want it legalized were unsuccessful so they pursued this masquerade.
Everyone went along with a wink and a nod.
Soon it will become a non-prescription drug.
Then it will become a legal substance.
Then miraculously, medicinal use of marijuana will no longer be needed and it will be dropped from any medical discussions…
A joke and a farce.
…and everyone knows it.
“No alternate forms of delivery are pursued”
You want to guess how I know you don’t have any idea what you are talking about?
Ha Ha
That’s the best counter argument you can provide.
Pretty much proves my point.
Besides, those alternate forms almost exclusively INCREASE the negative side effects of the drug. Oh, but wait… that’s the point… the negative effects are what is wanted out of this “medicine”. Funny how every other legitimate medicine strives to REDUCE the negative side effects even to the point of discarding a medicine if negative side effects cannot be eliminated or reduced sufficiently.
Marijuana as a “medicine”… a farce.
