Washington DC, a tense Oval Office meeting between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, President Donald Trump, and Vice President JD Vance on Friday has sparked controversy, with reports suggesting that anti-Trump Democrats may have influenced Zelenskyy to reject a rare earth minerals deal.
Zelenskyy’s Meeting with Anti-Trump Democrats
Before meeting Trump, Zelenskyy reportedly met with a group of Anti-Trump Democrat lawmakers—including Senator Chris Murphy (D-Conn.)—who allegedly advised him not to sign the mineral deal with the U.S. administration.
Murphy confirmed the meeting in a post on X (formerly Twitter) at 11:15 a.m. Friday, stating:
“Just finished a meeting with President Zelensky here in Washington. He confirmed that the Ukrainian people will not support a fake peace agreement where Putin gets everything he wants and there are no security arrangements for Ukraine.”
Attached to his post was a photo of Zelenskyy at a conference table, with Murphy seated across from him.
The Oval Office Clash
Less than an hour later, Zelenskyy arrived at the White House for his scheduled meeting with Trump and Vance, which quickly escalated into a heated exchange in front of the press.
At the center of the dispute was a rare earth minerals agreement—a deal that Secretary of State Marco Rubio claimed Zelenskyy had previously agreed to. However, after his closed-door meeting with Democrats, Zelenskyy refused to sign the agreement, blindsiding Trump’s administration.
The breakdown of the deal also derailed ceasefire discussions, leading critics to argue that Democratic interference has prolonged the war, leaving thousands of Ukrainian lives at risk.

Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) said in an NBC News “Meet the Press” interview that he believes someone besides Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky should lead Ukraine.

Now that Zelenskyy has been called out by Trump for what he is, a dictator, I think my neighbors can take down their blue and yellow we support dictators flags now. Z should be thankful we don’t Afghanistan him and just take the minerals for everything we’ve wasted on this effort. We shouldn’t be doing business with dictators anyway.
If that’s the case then we shouldn’t be doing business with Putin and Russia.

Zelinsky is a con man just grabbing as much money as he can as fast as he can before he leaves. He wouldn’t agree to a cease fire. That tells it all.
He is a grifter, unscrupulous and a low life corrupt politician. Him and his circle have invested many millions in real estate in europe and the US. There needs to be an audition where our money went. Rumors online say that his regime has sold american weapons for 20 cents on the dollar to mexican cartels and terrorist groups in africa and to the isis group that overtook Syria. People wake up. He is no hero. He is a Putin wannabe and has wasted the lives of hundreds of thousand young Ukrainians for a totally unnecessary and avoidable war.
