Ridgewood NJ, Senator Mike Doherty (R-23) introduced a Senate resolution condemning professional athletes who fail to stand during the national anthem.

Doherty, a graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point and former Army officer, said that protests popularized by San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick are hypocritical and worthy of condemnation.
“Standing for our national anthem is a sign of respect for the millions of Americans who fought and died for all of us, including Mr. Kaepernick, to live in a free nation.
“For Mr. Kaepernick and other professional athletes to protest while reaping all of the benefits of those sacrifices, including multi-million dollar salaries and lavish lifestyles, reeks of hypocrisy at the highest level.”
Personally, I don’t think it’s genuine that a politician introduce a resolution to condemn anyone, even an ungrateful, disrespectful Kaepernick. It’s up to the NFL and ownership to enforce compliance. A few are tainting the many. Time for the league to step up, like they would if he tried to wear an unofficial sponsors gear on the field. If Kappy wants to voice his personal views, he can take out his own ad, start his own show or donate some of his 9-figure contract to his favorite cause.
I like it….see how US hockey coach handled the issue in this summer’s World Cup.
