Tenafly NJ, on Saturday, July 6th, a fire broke out in Tenafly, NJ, apparently triggered by a downed tree. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
The Incident
The Tenafly Police Department received a call at 8:52 a.m. reporting a fire at a residence on Jefferson Avenue, near the Cresskill border. Lt. Paul Liautaud stated that the fire was caused by a large tree branch falling onto the house, though the exact cause of ignition remains unclear.
Emergency Response
Initial reports suggested that people were trapped inside the home. However, all residents had safely evacuated by the time police arrived. Emergency responders from multiple fire departments, including Tenafly, Englewood, Demarest, Dumont, Cresskill, and Bergenfield, quickly brought the fire under control.
Damage Report
The fire caused a section of the second floor to collapse. Additionally, the fallen tree damaged a neighboring home.
