Ridgewood NJ, Dr. Anthony Fauci,  the nation’s top infectious-disease expert, told CNBC on Friday that extended lockdowns could cause “irreparable” harm and worse health outcomes. Fauci went on,

“We can’t stay locked down for such a considerable period of time that you might do irreparable damage and have unintended consequences, including consequences for health,”

This was followed by Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin ,who told the Senate earlier this week that there was a risk of “permanent damage” to the economy if states kept strict restrictions in place.

  1. Dr. Anthony Fauci, the Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases and one of the lead White House Coronavirus Task Force members, is on record telling Newsmax in January that the coronavirus was “not a major threat.”

  2. Waiting till the dirt comes out.

  3. This is partially accurate, conveniently omitting that he also toldNewsmax that the situation could change, and that Americans should listen to the cdc. So, this is not a successful attempt at smearing Fauci

  4. Fauci is covvering his a$$, every prediction was wrong from day one

    The CDC just confirmed a .2% death rate for COVID-19. That’s TWO TENTHS of a percent, not two percent.
    For that, we have:
    * Added nearly 6 trillion to national debt
    * Laid-off or furloughed 50 million workers
    * Placed 60 million on food stamps
    * Gone from 5% to 13% unemployment
    * Crippled the petroleum industry
    * Ruined the tourism industry
    * Bankrupted the service industry
    * Caused an impending meat and protein crisis
    * Threatened, fined, and arrested church leaders
    * Exacerbated mental health problems
    * Shut down schools and colleges
    * Given unbridled power to unelected officials
    * Increased suicides higher than COVID deaths
    * Delayed surgeries and treatments for profound illnesses
    * Infringed upon countless important civil liberties
    * Placed 300 million Americans on house arrest.

  5. Oh my. Hip dude, I hope you don’t smoke ’cause that’s a heckuva stack of straw men you’ve assembled in front of you.

    “For that, we have:
    * Added nearly 6 trillion to national debt”
    Is that on top of the trillions already added in the last few years with nary a peep from the “free market, lassiez faire” Ridgewood blog?
    “* Laid-off or furloughed 50 million workers”
    Yup, terrible thing. It’s almost as if there’s a serious crisis going on.
    “* Placed 60 million on food stamps”
    See above.
    “* Gone from 5% to 13% unemployment”
    See above.
    “* Crippled the petroleum industry”
    Yep, people driving far less has had a serious impact. But the industry crash had much more to do with the oil war between the Saudis and the Russians, which you’d think the US would have a say in, if the current administration wasn’t completely beholden to BOTH.
    “* Ruined the tourism industry”
    Yup, people aren’t travelling for some reason.
    “* Bankrupted the service industry”
    You mean, exposed the fact that maybe our economy shouldn’t be completely focused the service industry. Didn’t happen overnight….
    “* Caused an impending meat and protein crisis”
    You mean, exposed the fact that maybe our supply chains, being entirely focused on profit and not stability and safety, are dangerous. A serious problem. But scarcity isn’t really the issue- tons of suppliers are throwing away/plowing under/etc. tons of food because it isn’t profitable to switch from supplying restaurants and chains to grocery stores.
    “* Threatened, fined, and arrested church leaders”
    Oh for pete’s sake.
    “* Exacerbated mental health problems”
    Yup, again, it’s almost as if this is a major crisis.
    “* Shut down schools and colleges”
    Yup, did the right thing. Curtailing the spread is paramount. For examples of what happens when you can’t shut group living situations down, see every angry article on this blog about nursing homes.
    And to preemptively reply to all who would say “But they’re OLD! They’re supposed to get it!” I’m talking about stopping the SPREAD. Young people get it and are asymptomatic still spread it, and how many of those would maybe end up on a ventilator? I don’t know, and neither do you, but cancelling the last half of a semester seems like a safe measure.
    “* Given unbridled power to unelected officials”
    You’re just NOW thinking this is bad??!?
    “* Increased suicides higher than COVID deaths”
    Source, please. I have a hard time believing 100,000 MORE people have killed themselves in the last few weeks.
    “* Delayed surgeries and treatments for profound illnesses”
    Yup, our health care system is overwhelmed by all these sick people. Darn that Dr. Fauci!
    “* Infringed upon countless important civil liberties”
    You know, I wonder if during the blackouts in WWII there were people complaining. Probably.
    “* Placed 300 million Americans on house arrest.”
    Hey, hip dude. Do me a favor. Get up, and walk out of your house. See if anyone arrests you. Get back to us.

    Look, I get this is frustrating and everyone’s angry. But your “arguments” seem to just be you thinking all this is a hoax, its not that bad, its not serious, or what have you. You are wrong. Call your local crematory, cemetery, funeral home, or morgue worker. Ask them how their last 2 months have been. And to NOW, as we’ve gone a long way towards flattening the curve and we’re not on the edge of systemic breakdown, to say let’s give up, is lunacy.

    It’s someone who’s ejected from a plane and their parachute deployed succesfully saying “Im not in danger anymore, I dont need this chute” before they’ve landed.

  6. Fauci played Pickleball last week at Glen School. I saw him.

  7. I don’t understand why Fauci’s face needs to be displayed everywhere like this guy is some kind of a Messiah. What makes him such a genius? Don’t we have other people with experience who could do this job? It is Trump who picks people like Fauci and then through idiocies he speaks makes these people look good and more important than they really are. Fauci needs to disappear for the comment about masks a couple of months ago. That comment alone could be responsible for many infections and deaths. And the excuse he is using is just insulting. He lost that little respect I had for him.
